Seat options on a 1200GSA ??

Went to check on my new bike at BVM Stroud yesterday, it had come in on Friday and (from appearance alone) it was pretty much ready to go. While I was there I did notice a couple of similar customer bikes in the car park, both had non-standard seats fitted.

So, my question, what are my options with seat fitment on the GSA - it's likely that the standard seat may make the bike a little tall for me (time will tell!). So, what are the lower seat options? From speaking to the salesman the BMW lower seat is approx 150 pounds.

I use the standard GS seat which is quite a bit lower than the adventure seat. Personally I find it quite a bit comfier than the adventure seat which had me in pain after only an hour in the saddle. Yesterday I was riding the bike for six hours and was comfy all the time.

I haven't tried the low seat as some people report some discomfort as the saddle / peg dimension is somewhat reduced.

I got them to supply the standard GS seat in place of the ADV seat so it didn't cost me anything.

I fitted the low seat to mine, after struggling (heightwise) for over a year with the standard fitment seat.

The low seat is quite comfortable for me and I did an almost non stop 600 miles on wednesday with no real discomfort, however the seat to peg distance is reduced alot so if you are long in leg or have dodgy knees you may struggle to get realy comfortable. Using the low seat will also allow me to use an airhawk for proper trips without having to look for kerbs evertime I stop.

The reduced seat height is a great advantage, esp off road and on dodgy cambers, with the low seat fitted it feels the same height as the budget 1200

Im using a Wunderlich 'ergo low', i was on my tip toes and nervous with the standard GSA seat, got my feet and confidence planted with this seat

And next years ADV come with a 820 seat height if you want it but I think the seat to peg will be to tight for my 29 inch inside leg ?

A ADV is 895-915

Standard GS is 840-860 and a low is 820

The low seat on mine allows me to get the balls of both feet properly on the floor, with the suspension set to med/hard, the standard GSA seat would allow me to get the ball of one foot on the floor and just the tip of the other foot with the suspension set to the softer side of comfortable. My inside leg is 29 1/2"

The standard certainly feels quite a bit lower, so I could well believe the figures from bodisback. I test rode the ADV with the ADV seat and could cope OK, but wasn't happy when stopping. The standard GS on low setting sorted that.

You really want the highest seat you can get away with for riding comfort.

My inside leg is around 30.5", first option shall probably be swapping the standard GS seat over from my mates 1200GS and trying that. If it's still a little high I'll give the low option a go.

There is a particularly nasty junction which I can't avoid when riding away from home. The junction enters quite a steep hill which is usuall busy with traffic. Getting cought out there is my main concern.

Even with the right seat height you've still got to be a bit careful of junctions on the ADV. They're quite a bit more top heavy than the GS Sport because of the bars, fuel, etc.

Nope. Plain black or grey options only for all of the GS seats.

I have put a black low seat and a black pillion pad on mine and it looks OK. Certainly makes the bike a lot more pleasant to ride and I don't have a problem with the seat to peg dimension - 30.5" inside leg.
