Re-posting from technical section:

I have just come to the realization that I should have gone for the low seat on my GS. I'm not short by any means but I don't like not being able to get my feet flat on the ground.

So, a quick search for a new seat revealed that I would have to spend £150-£250...:eek::eek

After much cursing a new plan has emerged. My mate has a low seat and he is very tall and wants a standard one . Problem solved I hear you say . Not really, his seat is grey and tatty and will need re-covering (mine is black and brand new!). Again much cursing  .

Now to my question (finally!). I have found a company called motorcycle seatworks. see www.motorcycleseatworks.co.uk. As you can see they offer a full re-trim and "comfort" seat shaping for £85. Seems a bargain but it would be nice to hear if anyone has any info on these guys. Over to you.... :type

Yes, he did my 1150 GSA seat this winter. It's the standard seat and was resculptured for max comfort and min height taking into account my weight. Top quality finish and materials. Think it was round about £120, expensive by some standards but as the saying goes "you get what you pay for" :thumb

Have you looked at LICS LTD?

They had a stand at the London Bike Show. Can't remember now how much they charged, but the chap seemed very keen and helpful. :thumb2

Tailspin,
I've recently had a seat for my R100GS recovered by motorcycleseatworks. I went for their comfort seat option. I was not happy with the quality at all. It seemed to be a real friday afternoon job. They didn't follow the brief I gave them for the style, they didn't bother to trim the old cover off properly resulting in the new cover being too bulky and not fitting on the bike properly. The new cover is not symetrical and badly fitted at the front and the whole cover has been thrown on with about 200 staples. They also made the seat narrower :blast (without asking me) which doesn't exactly add much in the comfort stakes. All in all a pretty crap attempt. Oh and the foam is too soft (despite asking for my weight). The only reason I didn't send it back was because I needed it to go to Morocco on straight away. I don't really want them to touch it again anyway, so I think I'll put this one down to experience! :spitfire
