Last week end I wrote about my 2004 R1200GS brake problems. The servo did not start at all. I had same problem last autumn two times. First time it went away when bike was being trailered to dealer. Second time it remained.
The German specialists were studying the bike during winter (according to my dealer explanation), the solution was -> they changed servo unit. Problem solved...
Last week same problem re-appeared. The servo did not initialize during bootup -> no servo, only "residual braking". There is no measure for the frustation I had
The dealer trailered the bike to their premises and connected analyser.... NO ERROR CODE AT ALL!! Well, I had a look at Yamahas and Hondas...
I was redy to change the bike to any other brand.
Today the dealer contacted me. They had found the root cause: hand brake leaver switch was adjusted wrong. During some specific (~+10c) conditions the switch was open -> the servo thought I had brake on during startup -> not OK to initialise.
Situation was such that computer considered it to be "typical stupidt user error" (brake on during init) -> no error code in computer.
Technical wisdom:
Brake lever switches are ON at startup.
The bike is OK now, I am happy with it. I will try to find all possible technical wisdom available for these CAN-bus systems as I will have this bike for a long time...
