I bought one a few years ago fitted and it never worked propersly I returned it and received a replacement only to find exactly the same problem with the second one and the price then was £173.00 and to be honest the only thing I had hoped it would be useful for was adjusting the carbs with.......doh never again.

Picked mine up off ebay for about £25 (£40 if you include the pod bought seperately) and it works perfectly.
Bought a voltmeter in another ebay auction that doesn't work though.

Archie - Did you check your wiring and the connector? Mine needed a bit of a clean up to get it working perfectly, it was a bit intermittent when I first fitted it.

I have been looking for a 50 mm rev counter for my G/S for months and they all seem to go for that sort of price - they are NLA and the repair people are talking that sort of money to do anything to them.

Don't tell me about the price of new airhead parts . I've replaced just about everything on my project bike and it's all been eye wateringly expensive. Good job it all lasts a few years so I'll get a good few years out of her. That's why there are so many bodged up airheads around,too bleedin dear to do it properly.

i have a new rev counter on my g/s. it never drops below 2000 rpm, and usually indicates 3000 at tickover.

it's a waste of space. i should probably bung it on ebay by the look of things.

Have you tried adjusting your idle speed?

it's not the idle speed, it's the rev counter, and i don't want to sell it no matter how crap it is
