Sena SMH10 Motorcycle Bluetooth Intercom

Apparently the next firmware update for the iPhone due out in a few weeks includes an update to enable the AVRCP function for fast fwd/rewinding music tracks via bluetooth

So I've heard anyway!

Sena New Flat mic and Ear Buds

There are now 3 new clamp units available for the SENA SMH-10 allowing you to use a Flat Mic with the normal speakers, a boom mic with your OWN earbuds and a flat mic with your own ear buds. MrHit.com has all of these available for $34.99 each! Add this to your headset or consider getting a Sena for the first time now that it works for your helmet! DUAL Sets are still $259.99 and Singles are $149.99! MrHit.com

I used MrHit.com and the single unit cost £111 and £23 in VAT to import from the US. Still a handy £50 saving on what UK distributers are selling them for :thumb2
Item took a couple of weeks to arrive though.

Sena SMH10 Available to buy here.....

The Sena SMH10 Bluetooth kits are available to buy on 01415545493 or online at www.bikesonparade.com They cost £299 for a twin pack or £159 for a single unit. This includes Special delivery next day in UK. So much cheaper than ebay.

Just done my apple i4 update going to try SENA now see if it skips MP3 tracks??

GREAT NEW'S after trying my iPhone 4 after update today 09/09/10 Been for a ride and the DENA now skips MP3 tracks forward or Backwards just push the jogdial whilst at the same time turning it forward or Backwards works a treat.... much better. I have only had the SENA a few weeks but getting to like it, next step is to put one on Christine's helmet Shoei Multitec and see how the intercom works?

Anyone tried this product out >>???

Yep, further confirmation that AVRCP now enabled on iPhone with the 4.1 update. Just tried it on the Sena for bluetooth streaming of mp3's and the fwd/rew function works well. :beerjug:

Thanks for all the info, guys. I'm very keen on upgrading our Scala G2 Teamsets to the Sena SMH10 kit. :)

Sena SMH10

The Sena seems to do most of what I need but can anyone out there who has got one tell me if - when linked to the Zumo 660 - can both rider and pillion hear the sat nav commands and music being played through the 660? Cheers

Are you deaf?

Having read the above comments I can't see a reply to the question about volume levels being adequate with earplugs. If it isn't i'd say this was a pretty fundamental flaw in the product as most will know that hearing damage results from prolonged riding without plugs. Please can someone confirm. Apologies if I missed the reply, obviously I'm going blind!

On every ride I always wear the green Max Lite earplugs, SNR34, which are amongst the highest attenuating plugs. No problems at all hearing intercom, phone calls, satnav and music at more than illegal speeds (and still aware of engine noise and what's going on around me). No fundamental flaw in the product at all. Can set different volume levels for each input. Intercoms riding with my brother clear all the way. Highly recommend after years of faffing about with wired products!

Hey Big D Ive got the senna but i found it a pain in the :augie to sit in the right position on my multi-tec, Did you have any problems ? , It was either stick or clamp .I have the wisper kit on my hat , so dont want to start cutting chunks out of it ive ended up with sticky velcro on my hat which is annoying knowing how much i paid for the senna and now it looks a bag of :blagblah on the side of my lid but the kit works well
any idea without ruining my lid:flag

I really fancy one, but don't fancy having to pay an extra £44 for the wired non boom mic, I've had a play with one at balderstons but the standard boom mic does not work well with the system 5 helmet, it ends up being stuck outside of the helmet beneath the strap.

Hey,

Whilst I was waiting to pull the plug on buying the Sena, my mate did so (to my extreme jealousness!).

Sadly he didn't get along with it. :blast
Here's what he said:

Well, I've emailed the guy I bought my Sena SMH10 from telling him I want to return it as faulty. While connected to my iPhone and using it as a stereo headset, audio drops out repeatedly, often for a few seconds at a time. Since that's primarily what I want to use it for (as wireless stereo headphones) it's not much use to me if it doesn't perform well in that regard. Back to ear buds I think.

While Googling to see if anyone else had the same problem, I came across this - different problem but worrying. The tab that holds the transmitter unit in place is definitely flimsy, I'm not surprised they've had problems.

Anyway, YMMV but my suggestion is to avoid them. :-(

As a result we've now decided to not go with the Sena but to "upgrade" our Cardo Scala Rider Q2 Teamset to the Cardo Scala Rider G4 Powerset.

I sincerely hope that nobody who's already got the Sena is having problems with them.
