had the first service done on my F650gs the other day - £100 fixed price for this by the supplying dealer (seemed helpful enough and stuff, but interesting how people aren't so friendly once you've paid your money :-) )

i raised the issue of unusual fuel gauge / trip computer readings on my bike. is it me?, or goes the range and fuel gauge readings on these bike seem a bit odd. the range never seems to react to filling it up especially, say registers 100 odd miles to next fill-up, it then never moves for the next 100 miles before dropping like a stone. they said it registered as working ok on the service computer - no faults found.

anybody else had this? or is it the nature of the setup/system?

It`s the nature of the beast.Mine shows 114 miles left to go even when its brim full, this stays like that untill the level drops enough for it to start counting down.:thumb

Lets be honest, you KNOW you've filled it up, and you KNOW it's gonna do over 150 to the tank, so what you really want to know is how far to go as you get past that point.

Or am I being far too sensible here?

Point taken - at least i know its not just me being stupid then (stupid for not reading the manual mind!...lol)

Just shows the fuel supping characteristics of the lil 650 twin.my trip resets normally to 130+ even seen 140 . Then goes on to do 250 on a run. The de tuned engine really does seem frugal.
