Does anyone know how to re-set the date in the memory of the instrument cluster?

It's an 09 GSA. Had it serviced by BMW before Christmas at 6k and now only has 6.5k on the clock so the service is obviously not due and the “service” indicator stays on. The user manual states that in some circumstances this can occur if the battery is disconnect for a long period of time. It wasn’t disconnected and on the BMW charger over Christmas and bad weather but not started for about 8 weeks. So I suspect not powering up for that time might be the cause of the date going awol? Starts up and rides OK but this won't go away. So to avoid the need to go into BMW I wonder if anyone can help with this or any other possible cause that I could rectify?

Thanks

Go and ask the dealer who serviced it to reset it - as they should have done on service!

No they shouldn't it will be due the 1 year annual. The engine oil's been done at the 6k so its brake fluid & gearbox oil and a reset of the DATE ELEMENT of the service clock as in TIME RELATED service items. Key words being before xmas -err its now January so I take it bike was bought sometime in Jan early Feb

Ahh now that makes sence albeit not clear (to me anyway) in the service book. Just had the same with my Merc that I brought with 7800 miles on the clock. Run it for 1800 miles then it ask's for "Service A". When I thought I was good for a year at least buying an 8 month old car! More fool me hey and more money them.

Dealer it is then.

Cute that

I can imagine the talk around the boardman table @ BMW, voting for that one:rolleyes:

Another reason not to buy a new BMW, as if you needed another:blast
