service plan,is it cost effective

hi folks,what are the cost of the first 3 services,i am guessing it 600 miles,then 6000 then 12000 is that correct.

But you the service plan is with BMW, so it’s only a geographical burden.

Bought my bike from Peterboghorror with a plan, first service at Lind Norwich (who have since closed) so took it to Sycamore Essex last year. It will go to Sudbury this year.

Is there a time limit of 3yrs on the deal - so you must do 6000 miles per year

You get the 600, 6000, 12000, and the 18000. So well worth it. It’s backed by bmw so any main dealer will honour it. It defo saves money over paying as you go at a main dealer

I didnt take one out, just in case it reduced flexibility on service times. For example if you have a big trip planned that will run you over the service interval part way through. I would normally service early to avoid any issues. Can you still do this? But I do around 3k trips normally.
Btw, I found Vertu (and Steve at Vertu) great to deal with. Including in the days when they were Cooper BMW, dealt with them then. Sometimes they could be slow answering the phone in the service department, but they would ring back.

I don’t think you can do the service early with the service plan. It is when the bike says it needs servicing

Correct they will only service it once the light is on
If you actually use the bike and do the milage it's a no brainer.
With my s1000xr I paid 1k up front for 4 services, the last service would be the 18k which on its own is £850 or thereabouts.
18k miles for me 1.5 yrs

In the September of the next year your bike reaches 3 years old, your service plan ends. You are not entitled to the `18K` service as your bike is now over three years old and it would be scheduled to take place in October...

Total would have been £865 so similar to the original service plan outlay .

You only need one year of 6k to guarantee all four services. For me bike bought November 2023, service plan bought March 2024 and 600 service done , 6000 miles done by November 2024 so service done now miles irrelevant as no matter how many miles service due Nov 2025 and Nov 2026 and plan runs until Mar 2027

That’s why I took out the service plan after the 6000 mile service. I am saving almost £500 in the next 3 years. This will include the forks as well.
To the OP.
Thing to do is to talk to the service manager and see what suits you and what is the more appropriate plan. If you don’t do the mileage you can still take out a plan that is financially beneficial. Or just take the bike to an indy and put aside £50, That should cover any service.
Any BMW shop will do the service. Contract is with BMW not the agent.

£50 won't even cover the cost of the correct quantity & spec oil for the 1300!.
