service plan,is it cost effective

You only need one year of 6k to guarantee all four services. For me bike bought November 2023, service plan bought March 2024 and 600 service done 👍, 6000 miles done by November 2024 so service done 👍 now miles irrelevant as no matter how many miles service due Nov 2025 and Nov 2026 and plan runs until Mar 2027 😜
So if you are doing - say 2000 miles a year after the first 6000 miles service you are still getting your monies worth. I would doubt that.

In the above scenario surely the service undertaken the following years would just be an annual service rather than a 12000 mile and 18000mile service

Or will they complete an 18000mile service when the bike has only done 6000 +2000 +2000 miles

Even if it was annual service only due to low miles it would still be cheaper than individual service for sure. However for me I will be at 12k by November 2025 and 18k by Nov 2026 😃😃

That makes sense. Good thinking. I didn`t know you could buy the plans at any time i thought you had to commit when purchasing.
So the 3 years of the plan is from the date on which you took out the plan not from date of first registration (when buying a new bike)?

I actually had my bikes` 6k service done at 4835 miles, if i had squeezed out just another ~1200 miles in the first year (a long weekend away somewhere) to take it over the 6k it would have made the service plan a more worthwhile proposition.
I`m sure those cunning Mottorad dealers know this judging by all the low-miles used bikes in the network but push the sales of the plans anyway.
Acedemic now though, i didn`t take the plan out, my GSA is just over 3 years old and out of the BMW dealer network now the warranty has expired and i`ll be home servicing from now on (already bought genuine oil`n`filter). Can`t wait to get into the valve gear to check the cam timing and shims.........!

My bike had the `big one` (valve check) at two years and 10048 miles, a couple of thousand miles early.

As others have said if you're doing 6k miles a year and you're going to have the expensive services done due to your milage then it probably is. In my case I only needed the annual service equivelent of the 6k one each time as my 1260 GS got traded in after nearly 4 years with less than 5k on the clock so for me it wasn't cost effective

The cost has gone up. The 5 year service plan is now £1500.

I was going to take this out last year. But as my RT is over 5 years old i'm going to do my own VHC and servicing.
