By a combination of poor planning, using my bike more than I planned :bounce1 and the fact that everything in France closes for August, I find myself in need of a 20,000km service, a 2000+km trip coming up and no chance of an appontment before at least mid-September.
My GSA1150 (one of the nice blue and white SE ones;) ) has about 21,000km on it.
What should I do?
Don't even think of suggesting leaving it in the garage

Sounds like this is an ideal time for you to discover how easy and cheap it is to service it yourself :thumb

You open your Service and Technical Handbook to page 3 and perform the "Inspection" tasks listed on pages 4 and 5; happy in the knowledge that you are saving a fortune in dealer servicing costs that you can spend on beer and loose women on your trip.:thumb:D

Service kit is about £35

Fluids will cost £20 to £50 depending on what you use

Tools will cost you a lifetime of misery coz you wont stop collecting them untill you are in a wooden box...........

if you have a good toolkit about the only thing you may need is the oil filter removal tool
But if you dont want to do it yourself........

Have you thought about an independant BMW mechanic?

There may be one hereabouts.......paying for someone elses hard won knowledge in automotive engineering is often the smart route if your not too confident yourself.

edit...just noticed your in France.........maybe theres a Le Steptoe in your area?

Thanks for that, I think I'll do it myself since I don't care about the service record (this one's a keeper).;)
It's last service was almost a year ago, so do I need to change the brake and clutch fluids? - I'm moderatly competent with the spannering, but I have heard people having lots of problems bleeding 1150 ABS brakes.

Stolzy, If you are anywhere near dept 24, I have an oil filter tool that you can use.
A kind offer, but I'm in Franche-Comte. I was in your neck of the woods a couple of weeks back though. Nice part of the world (although it cost me €90 amende :spitfire)
