Just a quick question to anyone in the know. I live in the Surrey/Hampshire/Berkshire sort of area and want to know if anyone out there can recommend a good (NOT RIPOFF!!!!!) place to get my new 1200 serviced..... I nearly fell over backwards today when told that I should expect a service to come close to £445. That would represent a very large proportion of a month's money.
While im on the subject does a 600 mile initial service for £0 labour cost and only the parts seem reasonable, and if it does has anyone any idea what that expenditure might run to (WASSIT COST MR!!!)

Sounds a lot. Depends which bike and which service. For a dealer service, you could try North Oxford Garage - a good bunch. In broad terms, my services have varied between £160 and £260 there.

No labour and parts only seems reasonable - it is some years since the 1st service was included in the price of the bike and it depends what you negotiate at the time of purchase. Not sure of parts cost - will partially depend on what oil is now being put in at the 1st service. Not sure if it is still the bog standard 20/50 or the laced with gold semi-synthetic version.

I've been quoted £90 from Southport Superbikes for my first service, so I'm a bit happy with that. (R1200 GSA). But yeah, reading on here & talking to others, seems the usual cost for a regular service can vary from £160 to £260, depending on how well you shop around, or how well you blag a cheaper deal :)

If it's a pre-2010 bike the price quoted sounds very excessive for a service even including an annual. The most I have paid is £330 which included an annual plus the cost of picking my bike up and returning it by van - a total of 180 miles.

I don't know if the 2010 double overhead cam engined bikes have a more labour intensive service or higher parts cost.

Just Had a first service on my 2010 GS Anniversary at 600 miles for bang on £100 at Alan Jefferies, seems ok to me.

Was looking at the post on tappet adjustment for the 2010 models, seems fairly easy to do for the technicians so i hope they keep the future services reasonable :augie

Thought all BMW dealers should be the same excepting London i suppose
