My bike is 13 months old and due the 6000 mile service, it had it 600 mile running in service just under a year ago

I phoned AJ's for a price for the 6000 mile service and was told I needed the annual service performing as well, the price they quoted to perform both together was £260.

My understanding was if I'd covered the 6000 miles in the first year there was no neccessity for the annual service as this was for bikes that were well below the 6000 mile service at a year old.

What extra work is in the annual service thats not in the 6000 mile service?

Anybody got any experience of this issue and are AJ's trying to take my pants down for an extra few quid?

One main difference is the annual(1st Annual) there is a brake fluid change required. If you did 6000 in 6 months they would do a 6k service and then a service at 12 months old. It works out cheaper if a service coincides with an annual. After the first year the brake fluid is every 2 years. The price seems about right.

I had my 6,000 mile service done last week. (Bike bought new in March). On the phone I was quoted about £280 but when it came to it, It was about £180. 'why so much cheaper?' I asked, 'You were quoted for an annual service. Because you have done six thou in less than a year, then its a simpler service than an annual one' they said.
No brake fluid change for me, just basic oil and filters if I remember rightly. :thumb

Take the £280 an run with a big smile on your face! Take a look at the link below, I had a nasty time with Park Lane BMW for my 6000 service. I would have been very very happy with £280.

If you read through it you will see loads of input from other riders on the subject, it should give you an idea if you are being taken to the cleaners... Or not.

Had my 1200 mile servive done inMarch at Charles Hurst in belfast, including brake fluid. Total cost £193. :aidan
