Hi UK GSers. As the forum says, I'm new so please be gentle!

My wife and I are making our way east on an F800GS from Wales in a few days, hoping to reach southeast asia eventually, and want to get the bike serviced before we get past Germany. Does anyone have any recommendations on good places to get a GS serviced anywhere between Wales and Germany? I'm a yank so I don't know much about the relative prices for parts/labor around Europe. Or whether BMW service shops are any better/worse than independent mechanics. Nothing to hard. New tires, oil/filter, air filter, chain/sprockets, checking brakes and other wearables, etc. Ideally I could schedule my visit so that we'd be in an out in a day.

Thanks!
Jeff

Welcome to all things UKGSer Jeff :thumb

Shouldn't worry too much, aim to get it serviced in Germany ... take the list of BMW dealers with you, give 'em a ring a couple of days before your anticipated arrival.
Alternatively take some filters & crush washers with you & do it yoursel ... no probs. this is what we did :thumb

Don't use the BMW dealer down at Bari, Italy
I had to get my head bearings done, they butchered the bottom yoke & stem to get the bottom bearing off, didn't put the dust seal in, & seriously mis aligned the forks on assembly .... totally crap service

Best of luck with your trip :thumb

Heres the link to their website Jeff http://www.adventurebikewarehouse.co.uk/

Hope you get sorted soon, it would be great to see a bit of a ride report of your journey ... sounds quite exciting ... enjoy! :thumb2

Look, no acknowledgement or even a simple 'thank you' ... you just cant help some people can you.

Thank you

Thank you all! And apologies to Duchess for the slow acknowledgement. Net access on the road is not what it is when at home...

Thank you again. Very helpful suggestions. I really appreciate your time.

(where's that 'embarressed' smiley when you need it)
