Preload all the way up to 95% at the back and up a bit at the front and tyres 42/36 should do the trick :)

Edit - Tyre pressures!

Just got back from a long trip, similar combined weights.

I've tried different settings everytime I've been on similar trips and think this time have hit the best setup so far;

05 GS with OE White Power shocks

Tyres - 39 psi F and 45 psi rear

Front shock - preload on 2nd notch (standard 'book' setting is 3)

Rear shock - 1/4 turn increase in compression damping and wind in the preload as far as it physically will go.

Some off roading was involved (easy pistes) and I reverted to my 'road' solo settings but with the rear preload a bit lower, which seemed to work ok.

As a comparison, solo I run the following:

Tyres - 36 psi F and 42 psi rear

Front shock - preload on 4th notch ( to drop the front end).

Rear shock - 1/8 turn increase in compression damping and wind in the preload as far as the last black line on the adjuster.

Thanks for the question and answers guys. I'm taking the wife off to Norway in two weeks and was pondering the same problem
