No...............just thought I'd mention it again, if anybody missed it first time :dabone :dabone :dabone

What possessed you to fit Givi's to the bike, there are plenty of better alternatives, as Cookie said, they make all bikes look ugly, once they're fitted :mmmm

Ride Outs

Still - the one big plus about this post is that when you turn up for a ride out, everyone will at least be forewarned - and should hopefully be past saying, "What the f**k?"

Reality check . . . .Panniers . . .. . .For a ride out. .. . .???

What the hell are you taking on a ride out that would mean you need panniers?

They serve a purpose. I guess that they're a marmite thing, you either love them or you hate them.

I'd never consider them a thing of beauty, but if anyone has an alternate suggestion within the £350 I spent I'd love to hear it.

They won't be on the bike for the majority of time, only when I need the additional capacity for carting the endless amounts of guff the other half needs when we go on hols :D :D

Do they carry all the luggage you want? Are they secure? Watertight? Well, why does appearance matter at all?

Believe it or not, nobody else out there is looking at you / the bike even to start thinking "that luggage doesnt look right". Particularly the harrased mum in her kiddie filled SUV!

Worrying about appearance / looking at your reflection in passing shop windows is the start of " Harley's syndrome". The next stage will be a set of tassles and a visit to Kustom Krome :ymca

Birdseye has a point.....

Don't worry about the Panniers no one will notice them once you're on the bike...

...not when they spot that BMW suit that is :D :D

Missed the best bit

The real advantage of buying the Givi luggage set is that its pretty much as good as an appplicated set like the systems cases and yet you can ALSO hopefully use them on your next bike, and the next one , and maybe even the next one saving yourself a quite a few quid over the years.

I have system cases and a GIVI topcase which at 30ish litres takes 2 full face lids (just) which the BMW box wont and yet doesnt look too big, which the GIVI 46 does in my IMHO. I'll be able to put the box on my next bike and just buy a new mounting plate.

From your comments it sounds like you dont intend to keep the GIVIs on all the time , only using them for proper trips by the sound of it, so who cares what they look like.

Cheers

Thanks Ian, A voice of reason :D :D :D :D

I only asked in the first place for a laugh, some great opinions, and some ugly personal comments . . . . .

It takes all sorts I suppose :thumb :thumb

Ian

you say that like it's a good thing

the best looking panniers on a 12 are the bmw ones IMO.

ok, they break & the top box falls off, but hey, that fits the design philosophy of the 12 perfectly ;) :D

Hmmmmmmmm

Form over function? Is that a good thing?

Nice thread Mr toad.....Youve just about got the whole mentality of this site in your replies, from the sublime to the ridiculous!

As with every purchase you make, are you happy with
1) What you bought
2) What you paid
3) With the service

If the answer is yes than fredrick uck :dabone the rest of the world!!

Toad,

Good for you for asking but the one thing you'll learn about this forum is that you don't need to ask for opinions. You'll get them anyway.

Whatever bike you choose, helmet you wear, bits you add to the bike or for that matter what you use your bike for, someone will always have a different opinion and feel duty-bound to share it with you.

Go your own way and do as you see fit.
