After a new flip front and the multitech seems nice. Fits better than the others I've tried (shuberth and BM). Are there any inherrent problems with them and how quiet are they?

not as quiet as the shuberth or BMW, but aren't as heavy.
Flip front is a hell of alot easier to operate with one hand. They come with a pinlock antifog system as all shoei's do.
The only problem I had was when I changed to a tinted visor in heavy rain a little water came in through the top corner of the visor seal. A small adjustment of the visor mechanism and it was sorted.
Comm gear is so easy to fit as there is ample space in the ear section

I've got a Tour-x I use on adaily basis but am after something warmer/quiter for long distance and winter. Are they much quieter than a tour x?
It would also be of benefit if there are thicker chin pads availabe over the stock (31's???) ?

Excellent - just replaced mine and `er indoors after our previous helmets were stolen a few weeks ago.
Impressions after a 250 mile day out:
Light, well made, superb ventilation, quiet and visor changing a doddle.
(Make sure you secure the side fixings properly before riding).
All in all we are very impressed

Ditto - I am about to renew (and like) my current Synchrotec. I have got a shoei head as the BMW 5 feels like a vice.
How easy is the Multitech to clean (inside) I am deliberating on giving the inside of the Synch a good dhoby but am nervous about it.
....... knowing my luck it'll end up like Nora Battys drawers - hangin out the bottom, stretched beyod recognition and colour run......
It would be good if Shoei realised we are not all Ninja crew cuts
and 'greasy biker' is someimes close to home

As with all shoei's just fill the bath with luke warm water and use baby shampoo to clean them out. Just remember to take any comm gear out first. Then leave them to dry naturally. Did that on feridax's recommendation and wash my helmets for the last 5 years with out a problem

I went helmet buying yesterday and tried these on. Rather annoyingly the L was a perfect fit untill I dropped the chin guard which then touched my chin, the XL didn't however was too big.

Bought a Multitech about 6 weeks ago, ridden about 1500 miles now 
absolutely love it. Its not silent but quieter than the BM System 5 i had. The BM lid seems ok but both vents literally fell off. THe Shoei seems better & for me is a better fit.

Yup, sounds like the way to go. I like the fact they do two shell sizes to. The BM lid feels Maaassssive on my wee pee like heed

I have one, it's not quite but it's the best flip lid to put coms into I could find, easy to flip and seems good quality.

I've done over 12k miles in mine since November and despite being noisier than a full face (quel surprise) It has been an excellent buy. The free pinlock insert and tinted visor are great VFM and with the purchase of a tinted pinlock insert I have a fog free LEGAL dark visor.
Been wearing flip up helmets for a few years now ( yes yes when riding the bike) and the latest a Davida Lunar.
Looking around for a new flip up and am nearly sure I seen one (not a roof) that was to be launched this summer where the chin part folds back and turns the helmet into an "open face" helmet.
Off course it could all have been a dream, after a feed of cheese and whiskey.
