Shoei Neotec 3

Looking maybe to buy one...there are some real price variations out there. Helmet city at £679.99 for the flouro colour TC3 I think one I want and same one at Motocard at £559.29.
That's a huge difference. Anyone bought from Motocard before?
I recently bought a J cruise from motocard, no issues whatsoever.

Picked up my Neotec 3 today from Motolegends and they honored the discounts. All in the cost was £689. They even fitted the comms and also did a fitting for me changing the cheek pads and making the fit perfect at no extra charge. That’s what I call amazing service!

I’ve just got home from surgery in London and my Neotec 3 has arrived from Motolegends.
Now admittedly I’m a bit drugged up and not slept for 24 hours……..but…..the instructions that come with the helmet are shite.
There’s a generic book about how to wear a helmet but nothing to explain how the vents work or how to remove/refit the visor.
The visor came off ok like the Neotec 2 but was a bastard to refit .
I did find a guide to download which shows which lugs to locate and where :

But what about the venting ?
The chin bar is obvious but the one at the top is not obvious to me as to which was is open or closed .

And what the actual fuck is this that was in the box ?

I don’t have such a pin, and even if I did I haven’t got a fucking clue what the instructions are trying to say .

I don’t have such a pin, and even if I did I haven’t got a fucking clue what the instructions are trying to say

Those are the clear plastic pins that hold the pinlock inside the visor, hence the name pinlock

As for the top vent, it has 3 positions, closed (forward), half open (one click back), fully open (back as far as it goes)

The rear vent is permanently open, it’s just a slot and doesn’t move

I’m going to use my Packtalk Edge on the new Neotec, as I’ve given up on Sena after too many issues.
So I’ve bought another Cardo 2nd helmet kit and a mount .
Now, the Cardo Neotec 2 adapter plate was ok BUT it requires you to remove the ‘triangular’ comms blanking plate from the left side and then stick on the Cardo adapter with the double sided tape attached. Works ok and is only £15

But, Cardo have yet to develop one for the Neotec 3.
So a quick search on Google came up with Tubs Jackson who make a 3d printed adapter for the Neotec 3:

Bit pricey , I think at £40 ! But I did get it for £34 on a Black Friday deal .Still didn’t recognise Guernsey is VAT-free.

Oh well, don’t mind paying for good kit-and I’m pretty impressed with it , as it slots into place and sits snugly on the Neotec 3 , rather than simply being stuck on like the Cardo version on the 2 :

Excuse the crap photos

So definitely recommended, and I’m pretty sure that the guy behind the company is on here .

Edited to add, he is:

Yeah, but the pinlock pins are already fitted to the visor, though they do provide a spare set.

BUT those instructions don’t make any sense .Whats the black piece circled ?

Venting makes sense, shame they don’t actually tell you ….ta.

Bought one for my Packtalk Bold for the Neotec 3. Really impressed with it, much better than the sticky mount

Whats the black piece circled ?

They’re showing you how to fit the pins if you need to change them for example

The picture you’ve circled shows a cross section of the visor (shield) with the pin not completely seated

In the last picture they show you how the hook holds the pin in the shield when correctly fitted,
The hexagonal part at the bottom allows you to turn the pin to adjust the tightness of the anti fog screen, I think there is a plastic tool in the bag with the stickers etc.
The cam part between the hexagon and the shield, where the anti fog screen fits, is offset to provide the adjustment when you turn the pin

Yes, unnecessary drama . Just stick the Edge to y’er Neotec 3 helmet . Easy to remove the stuck base if needed. I’ve never suffered stuck bases falling off in 20 yrs. Easy -Peasy.
Oh , and should the rare event of the base deboning occur , your Edge is still tethered by the comms wires .

Yeah but much neater in place over the OE comms plate

This is a Neotech 2 but the blurb says it covers the 3, too.
Never looked at instructions for the 2 . Simple on and off . Took me 15 minutes to refit the 3 visor with trial and error . Might just be very tight

The visor fits exactly the same as it does on the Neotec 2. Took me less than 5 mins to take off and put on. And your a pilot :-)

I’ve taken it on and off again this morning , and after a reasonable sleep and daylight it was much easier.
I blame the drugs and 2 hours broken sleep in 24 😜.

Anyway, fitted my Cardo Packtalk Edge 2nd helmet kit to the Neotec 3 this morning .
Pretty straight forward, as per Neotec 2. And as mentioned above, the Tubs Jackson mount makes it very neat .
The only annoying thing about the Neotec 3 over the 2 ,as mentioned elsewhere I think, is that there is only a channel cut out for the boom mic on one side in the 3 chin piece whereas there’s one on both sides on the 2.
And of course, it’s on the wrong side to the side you want when fitting the Cardo.
I’ve managed to fit the mic ok using the sticky pads and held in place by the lining. But it’s a bit trial and error to get the padding to stay in without un-popping at the front .

But overall the 3 does look a bit of an improvement over the 2, certainly in the venting and the way the visor now latches and unlatches.

I think, is that there is only a channel cut out for the boom mic on one side in the 3 chin piece

You got that bit correct at least :D :beerjug:

I guess that, with a deft bit of work, you could cut a suitable channel to suit the carbuncle you’ve stuck on the outside.

PS Is that a roll of black gaffer tape in your boudoir?

I much prefer the integrated Sena comms in terms of aesthetics .
Unfortunately they have let me down over the years.
Had a Sena SRL2 fail and be replaced a couple of years ago.
I ‘upgraded’ to the SRL Mesh when it was introduced.Worked great for 6 months.
Then it developed a fault on our trip to Picos where it would power off a few seconds after powering on, despite being fully charged.
After numerous resets and faffing it suddenly resumed working .
Then on Loire trip with wife on Wing in October the fucking thing died on day 3 and wouldn’t turn back on again .
Tried it a few days and it was dead. Got home and it powered on fine .
Took it out of helmet and back to Motolegends and they sent it off to Sena .A few weeks later I received a new SRL Mesh in the post, which I promptly sold.
I’d already been trialling Cardo Packtalk Edge in Shark flip over for a few months and was impressed with the better sound quality than the Sena ,and the louder volume.
And the battery is three/four times as good. Ride all day using the Sena and sometimes the battery would be low by the evening . Do the same with the Cardo, and the aural battery check as you power down the unit was usually 70/75% !
The best bit though is you only have to buy one full kit as Cardo do a 2nd helmet kit for £75 !

IMG_2289.jpeg

So I’ve now got Cardo fitted in 2 Shark Evos, Shoei Glamster and Neotec 3.

Edited to add.

Evskij had similar issues with SRL Mesh and had to get a replacement. He’s also switched to Cardo.
Just hoping Cardo is reliable as I had a G9X years ago and the battery died on that ……
