Not as epic as this week's trip reports.....................but here's a few pics of my trip to the Eifels & Mosel in May 2009

We went with Micky (from here) for a week and stayed at the excellent Pension Forsthaus, near Mayen

Pension Forsthaus is a great base for a week's exploration and is well regarded in GS circles

It's the 4th or 5th time that I've stayed here and I never tire of Christian's hopsitality and his delightful wenches

Here's the hotel

Castles high in the Mosel hills and later a splendid view of the Mosel

Pretty Mosel villages

Little did we know when we parked up above, this Swan was busy on her nest and seemed completely unaffected by our presence...........pretty impressive

One for Proff and Sid..................campers on the Mosel (free facilities for a couple of days, looks almost enjoyable)

One day we had a ride to an old Aircraft Museum, south of Piesporter
The Cafe for lunch was in an old Concorde:augie

This Russian chopper was absolutely huge

We had a run down to the pretty border town of Vianden, just in Luxembourg
The roads in that area were superb and I can recommend this for a day out

I can also recommend the area above Koblenz, on the other side of the Rhine on the opposite bank to Sinzig (where Wunderlich is located), we took the small ferry from Sinzig and explored this wooded area in the hills above the Rhine which turned out to be great for biking:thumb

Sometimes it's good to stay in an area and REALLY explore it, finding out where all the hidden places are....................on this occasion this is just what we did and covered about 1100 miles in 8 days including the trip from Yorkshire

Cheers Micky:thumb..........................for setting it up:D

Nice wee report and pics :thumb2 I've just worked out that it's 10 years next month since I spent time in Vianden. I must go back soon. It's a cracking area as you rightly say :beerjug:
