hi all , my 07 gsa1200 with 8.5k refused to start a few days ago and i persumed the fpc was the culprit, took off the controller and ran a lead off the battery direct to the pump, and it still refuses to fire , any one got any ideas??

the computer shows a fuel warning , and i put in a gallon just to be sure it was juiced.
appriciate any help

is the pump working? you ought to be able to hear it quite clearly.

Don't suppose the pump is running.....backwards?

:nenau

Tried that, no difference only in sound. The only thing that I could think of was that as I was powering it off an accessory socket (none OEM) then maybe it was a lower power supply than it needed.

Could be: When I had to do it, powered it straight (but fused) off the battery.

:)

How Bizarre.

When my FPC failed, I double-checked my diagnosis by running a power supply straight from the battery terminals to the two pins of the fuel pump internal socket.

Pump whirred, bike started no probs. :nenau

Then with my home-made 'get home' cable made from the old FPC connector, I tested it using the din plug socket (pump tripped it out in about 30 secs) and across the battery terminals (pump ran continuously, so did the engine). :nenau

ISTR that there was a thread on exactly this a week or two ago...probably involving that nice Mr Wapping gentleman.

would be worth having a good dig around using 'controller ' etc against 'wapping' in the advanced search function.

hi and thanks for the help, fitted the new FPC yesterday , went for a spin today and the ews error kicked in, bike currently on a transporter for delivery to main dealer:blast:blast would you believe .....
