Should I Take This Offer?

Late December would be best

Ring around all the UK dealers one morning and see who's doing what

If you have no P/X whats the rush

Yes you're absolutely right, however I'm self employed running my own business and business although quieter is still coming to me - I fix computers for a living. Buying the bike would not effect our income at all and I've made some savings with my business to afford buying this bike. That said my wife thinks I should wait until next spring so it's put a little damper on things a bit. Not sure, but I have the bug now! I tend to rush in to things much quicker than my would would hence the difference of opinion!

Not mine .. but looking for something else and came across this!

Looks very good value given it comes with all the accessories that you really need.

This one was mentioned by someone else here - looks very good - however I need financial assistance and to be honest I really want a new one. I'm fussy like that!

If money isn't a problem then go for it :thumb2

OK need some answers please. I've been accepted for finance but I am debating whether or not to look for a cheaper personal loan. That said I'm not sure whether I should consider purchasing paniers and top box? performance exhaust? factory fit alarm? LED indicators? Although factory fit alarm would mean a special order from BMW but probably LED indicators could be found on another bike within BMW UK.

Another thought that I would appreciate advise on, If I go for panniers and box etc should I wait until NEC show? I'm not in any hurry for panniers but don't want to pay more than I need to and I got the feeling that I was pushing the boat out asking for more than already offered from Ocean in Plymouth. They will offer me £600 + free 1st service only if I buy it on their finance? or otherwise it will just be a straight £500 off with possibly some discount off accessories depending on the what?

I dont think you will get discount on panniers at the nec show. I havent ever seen bmw sell anything at the show, never mind discount it. There are often pannieras coming up for sale on here and ebay, but make good money.
as for the finance its difficult to answer. It all depends on the rate you have been quoted. I would borrow the money off the bank at a lower rate and take the £500 off the bike.
I was told that all bmw bikes are going up in price in january 2009!

Bike was from AJ's at Shipley

Very amenable and IMHO professional dealership. They do NOT mess you about, the staff are very personable and talk to you on the level.
As Maggie said "Someone I can do business with..."

Thoroughly recommend.

I've now bought the bike and complete the finance in a couple of weeks. Bikes in Red with ali panniers and top box. The deal I got was £600 off the price, £100 off the panniers and top box, free 1st service and I'm hoping a full tank of fuel, although they only say they will put £15 in the new GS's. Salesman was a bit non committal about that so I'm not expecting a full tank but it would be nice! Collect the bike on Thursday 20th. O and I'm having the front mudguard extender fitted also to protect the engine abit more. This one but without the bags.

Just do it! Done 19k miles on mine since march 2007 mainly two up with luggage. Great bike with god frontal weather protection but be prepared for wet left foot syndrome from the rear wheel.
Ride safe

Tell you what, it wasn't an easy decision to make. I reeeeeealy liked the Buell Ullysse, it looks good, rode very fast with loads of torque BUT if I bought it I would have always thought what if? The BMW had all the extras like large tank, tank range, gear indicator, additional spots etc etc. Tipping factor was the special offer Ocean BMW currently have plus the salesman told me not to buy a Buell Ullysse cause they will not hold their value plus he also confirmed that there will be no changes made to the 09 models - not even a colour change! So with all that info I thought buy now before the price goes up, get the special offer and save some money.

Many thanks to everyone who offered their comments. They were very helpful - and sometimes funny - in my decision making process.

Red's definately the best colour IMHO

Think the Buell would be nice in the garage but it wouldn't be half as useful as the GS ;)

Dunno if I'm the only person on here that thought ' Jesus Christ - if you want a Beemer, just GTF on and buy one ! Frankly you have Dillied and Dallied all round the houses and eventually taken the plunge you prolly always knew you would.
Its been entertaining to a degree...
But I know women that could make a quicker decision :(

That aside I GENUINELY hope you will enjhoy the experience

You've obviously missed the point of my posts as I was never in a position to buy straight away after spending a few thousand on my newly acquired RD and restoring and fixing it. I like to make an informed decision not just go out and spend £13000 lightly. The BMW was always at the top of my very short, short list but I couldn't decide between GS or GSA and nor can some other people who posted either. It was a tough decision and I wanted feedback from real owners to help me through this process WHILST I was saving my money. I had questions and this forum answered them. To be honest I've bought this bike much much sooner than I was hoping for.

PS; I only returned to biking July this year after 18 years of driving and have been off the road more times than not due to restoration and problems after buying an RD350R. My wife didn't want me to buy another bike this year so I'm really lucky to have this beemer this side of Spring 09. So this forum has been a good place to get good info whilst I was waiting. It would have been a completely different matter if I had the money straight away, I probably would have bought one much sooner!

Mmmm not sure about that. All depends on what you mean about GS? I won't be traveling the world but I do want to travel further afield now. I won't be going off road either! I see no reason why the Buell couldn't do anything I threw at it. I test rode a GSA again yesterday before buying and comparing it to the Buell as I was riding it didn't have the same torque as the Buell and the Buell was certainly faster! But Like I said it lacked in other ways - I mean it didn't even have 6th gear! Gearbox seemed clunkier, very basic in the way of gadgets also. Plus the dealer was about 100 miles away whereas BMW were only 5. I like the height of the GSA and tip toeing at traffic lights did not put me off. Reversing the bike might be though! :blast

Red is the nicest colour compared to the matt gum metal. But I would prefer a brighter more vibrant red if I'm honest - it's a tad on the dull side.

Why the need to justify what you do? :nenau

If the bloke doesn't like what you do .. he doesn't have to read your post :thumb2

You go enjoy your bike mate, although Red is the SLOWER version you know :D

£1100 ish less £100 discount for ali panniers and top box.

They did you no favours there then:eek:

I only paid £400 for a set of brand new alloy GSA boxes and locks from the BMW dealer and could have had the topbox and lock for another £200 if i'd wanted it

Half of what you paid - but my bike already had panniers rails fitted, so didn't need them

WOW are they the same? There not the vario ones but the full alloys ones right? The list prices for the panniers alone was £728 + £386 for the top box - to get both just for just £600 seems really low mate? If they are the same ones then WOW what a bargain but I doubt most other BMW dealers would give that much away on panniers.
