I've got most of the parts needed to get my H2 back to standard (headlight, headlight brackets, airbox etc) but can I get standard exhausts? They make even rocking horse shit look common.

I never check the mpg on it because it'd probably frighten me and if I was worried about fuel consumption I'd buy a CG125.

T'is a lovely 'bike for sure, but a 'clubmans' seat doesn't go with the yank hi rise handlebars

Clubmans seat = flat bars or clip ons

But then what do I know

You're right and at some point I'll fit a set of flat bars that'll set it off nicely. Clip ons wouldn't suit it unless I fitted rear sets as well and that's a bit too much commitment for me but the seat can be changed just by undoing the thumb wheels and changing the seat in under a minute.

If I had to pick one seat and never change I'd go for a conventional seat so I could take the other half on the back but while I can pick and choose I prefer that one.

What's a classic? I don't think you can put an age on it because to me a 916 is and always will be a classic bike because it's such a beautiful bike to look at but a similar aged Bandit is just a piece of crap that fulfilled a function at the time.

Certain bikes caught the attention of the youth of the day and as someone who started riding bikes in the mid '70s a Kawasaki 750 H2, a Laverda Montjuic and a Norton Commando were all bikes I wanted. If I was 10 years younger then an early GSXR 750 or Foxeye Blade might have done it but I've had both and have no wish to own either again.

I've got a wish list but the problem is that I can't afford a TZ750 Yamaha

To me, starting motorcycling in the early sixties, Nortons equated to straight bars ... 1966 I bought a brand new BSA A65L .... should have been a Norton 650SS, but it's a long story

Are you the same Mickey that was at the Stella stopping in Bardo in 2013 because if so it was me on the Multistrada and my wife on a Triumph Sprint ST? One of your group sorted out my malfunctioning Garmin satnav so thanks again

Hello JB. I thought it was the same person so it was no good him trying to deny it

It's not as if he threw the satnav against the wall which is what I was going to do with it so I still owe whoever it was sorted it out a small bottle of very cheap beer.

The Norton is fitted with a pair of Amal MKII concentrics with a K&N single filter (twin outlet) fitted where the standard air box used to live. It's got a PW3 cam in it so manages to use the extra fuel thrown into it though it does run a bit lumpy at low revs so may be going back to standard cam, carbs and airbox at some point in the future.

My 850 Mk 3, 7000miles one owner before me, i first spotted the bike in the late 1970's whilst at a party, then i spotted a similar bike for sale a couple of months back, turned out to be the same bike, not really gained any miles over that time!

And another Commando a 1971 750 Cafe racer I bought a few weeks back, needs a total rebuild, its not bad chassis wise but the engine was knackered after dropping a valve, its in pieces now and i'm just waiting for the parts to return from the specialists so I can rebuild it

I'm sure it would look better in my garage though

I've been on the look out for a late Comando with electric start, mainly to banish the two weeks of ownership nightmare I went through in the 70's.

It's a credit to you that bike.

I keep thinking about putting one of the French made electric start conversions on my MKIIA then look at the cost and forget it for a while.
