I want to replace the side stand on my 03 GS with a longer one, is it s imple matter of obtaining a GSA side stand or is there another alternative?

Also, how much longer is the GSA stand?

Many thanks

Steve

Make on of these, 12mm thick in this case:

Lifts the bike up a reasonable amount & increases footprint by at least 50% to prevent sinking in soft ground.

GS1150 side stand

Hi all,

I bought an 1150GS a couple of months ago and recently acquired a pair of used Ohlins. The guy who sold me the Ohlins gave me a GSA side stand which he had fitted with the Ohlins due to the slight increase in ride height.

Although I have yet to fit either of these items, he assured me the GSA stand was a simple direct replacement, and it looks to be about an inch or so longer with a slightly bigger and differently shaped foot plate.

Regards,
Bill

Thanks Jon,
I'll certainly give that some consideration.
All the best

Thick Foot!

I did not notice my bike has a thick foot on the sidestand until it fell off in Wales. The angle of lean without it was impressive! Refitted it, just the centre allenscrew had come loose.
Would not be without it!

Guys,

Thanks for your help, I've just ordered the adaptor as suggested by Timbo. I just got my missus to measure an inch from the base of the side stand to the floor, I was surprised how much difference it made.
She seemed surprised as well, not for the first time, where that measurement is concerned!!:D :D :D

Cheers fellas
Steve
