Sierra update wi-fi issues

As the title says, I have had issues with wi-fi connection since the update. When booted up my mac fails connect to my router
I have found a recommended fix, see attached link below. Its not a problem to manually select my router and connecting.

However when I follow the steps on the fix link my screen differs. Not wanting to delete any items suggested by the link I abandoned the home fix.

I have an genius bar appointment next week to resolve the issue. But in the mean time is there any suggestions for a fix that is geared at my IT level ( not the greatest but I can post photos on the forum )

Having done a bit searching this is not a problem unique to myself. So you apple users be aware.

Have you tried dissociating the network and then re-adding it?

Not very helpful, but i just updated mine and there are no issues, I am yet aware of. Perhaps I was lucky.

Gadget, yes a bit hit and miss according to the forums I had looked at. Just a bit unfortunate it was me. Mind you I would never go back to a PC now. Never thought I would say that.

Try. Sometimes it helps, even though it is weird as you changed nothing in your wifi setup (I assume).

I updated one of my Macs (an Air) to Sierra. Beta first and final version when it came out, and had no issues with wifi. It regularly connects to both home and office wifi + I used a set of random wifi networks in the eve when traveling with the motorbike in Europe last week.

All sorted, the solution was as er-minio suggested. Into network preferences and remove my router details. Re introduce my router into networks and restart.

It took about 3 goes, last mistake was forgetting to tick the "automatically join network box" At various times I did restarts. Anyhow its done now.

Me too, but I would be tempted to delete the old wifi connections and start from fresh.

Go settings/network/advanced select the old wifi connections and press the - button to remove, mine has dozens of old ones.

Then reboot the computer before starting to create a new wifi connection
