Hi folks, I'm in need need of some direction. My 2001 1150 GS Won't start. The problem comes from the fuel pump but I'm looking for the cause.

When I turn the ignition the usual 'bzzzzzt' of the pump priming doesn't happen. The question is, what is most likely to be the fault, the relay or the pump itself? I'm not sure how to test the relay and don't particularly want to have to get inside the tank. Has anyone here had a problem with the relay before?

The battery on the bike is fine and the engine turns over fine, the lights and everything else work too. The fuse for the pump is also OK.

My guess is that the pump is knackered but I want to rule out any other possibilities first.

Thanks for your help :type

The usual pump problem is poor contacts on the 4 pin plug supplying the volts. You can find this connector under the plastic trim panel where your right knee goes.Clean/WD40 the contacts and you should be OK.:thumb

Mine seems to have gone aswell.:comfort all contacts cleaned + fuses checked. How much can we expect to pay for a replacement from BMW or is there an alternative supplier. I prefer non franchised guys :ymca .............becuse I'm self employed too:beerjug:.

An auto electrician here told me that he could find me a new one from a car parts supplier but wasn't specific.

Besides, I had already bought one from bmw :tears

EXPENSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE

If you one from bmw, could you please post a photo of it in its package.
I think they sold me a now-bmw one.......at the price of oem but I'm not sure.

We got a pattern pump in Bulgaria which was from an Audi car of some sort may be worth a look.
