Silver spoked wheels and rim tape

Hi, hope you're having a nice one

After many tyre changes and a few rocky tracks the edges of my 2014 silver cross spoked wheels are a bit scratched and I'm trying to improve them

The options are:

1. Buy new wheels at £1300 each
2. Get the wheels powder coated at £900 for the pair
3. Find someone on here who successfully stuck rim tape over the edges of the wheels for about £30

All and any ideas welcome

900 quid for powder coating? I'm guessing that's including dismantling and re assembling the wheels too.

Yes and new stainless steel spokes and nipples

With the position you're in. Why not try the tape or other cheaper repair options first?

Keep an eye out on here & eBay for a good used set.

My research this afternoon has discovered that no one makes tape which would effectively go over the heads of the spokes - hence rim tape is for the alloy/cast wheels only. The refurb is a fair deal and they will be like new but there are very few places that will touch BMW external spokes - I only found one and I asked at over a dozen places. Thanks for your replies

Of what i read this is only superficial damage - nothing structural? So you have nothing to lose in trying anything! Whether it's tape, scratch repairs, or anything else.

Why not rub them down n rattle can spray them, they will only get knocked, marked again on the rocky tracks your keen on using. Call it war wounds, battle scars, be proud.
