..on 'relaxed' throttle.

1100, '99 model. It ticks over (~1000) OK, it pulls OK when accelerating, it runs OK under 'slight' load conditions, e.g steady throttle on M/Way. It's just when I relax the throttle slightly, such as rolling down a gentle slope, a slight miss-fire starts. It has stalled twice under these conditions, both times within five minutes of starting from cold.

I'm going to do some farkling on it tomorrow, but any ideas from the collective before I start?

Cheers,

Dave.

P.S. It's a red one, if that helps...:D

exhaust pops!

Hey, I've only just bought a 95 1100GS.. I've had it a short while and I love it. However, when I slow down and release the throttle it sometimes makes a loud popping or banging noise from the exhaust! I assumed it had something to do with the fuel intake, but now I'm not so sure! (sometimes its like a gun shot)!

Thanks,

Chris

You say it only does this overrun missfire when half warm - does it do it with the fast idle/choke lever on?

It sounds as if it might be running too rich on the overrun when cold (best guess though).

As for why..... Try all the service items, check the TPS position. Clean the brass idle screws etc.

Hopefully it'll turn up amongst that lot, other wise...... is it using a lambda sensor or not? If not you might try leaning up the idle using the CO potentiometer.

An italian tune up (giving it a good thrashing) might sort it.

Best answer I can come up with. Hope it helps.

Olly.

Pull out the CCP and adjust the CO pot.

Am i talking in code ? try a search and it'll be explained..

Cheers guys. No change yet, I ended up farkling the Fudge today. Went for a run, got to Devil's Bridge, and discovered the top plate on the Wing Rack was in the throes of falling off, complete with top box.

Olly, I'm going to have a look at all things tomorrow, but I had thought of going Italian. Did a good run last week, but that was more of a low speed/low gear potter around the hills than a blasting. And no, it's not just while it's warming up, does it occasionally when it's warmed as well.

Neil, you might be talking in code, but thanks to your help a couple of years back, I know how to crack it...:D

However, while the old 1100 had a CCD, 'cos it was originally German market and so had a cat, as far as I'm aware this one hasn't. Certainly no Lambda probe, though as it's got an A/M 'racing only' exhaust on it, the lead for any Lambda might be tucked away somewhere. But as far as I know, it's a UK machine.

Also, I've had a quick nose for something/anything that might be a CO pot, (right hand side, near the fuse box area?), but can't see owt likely. I thought these were only on the earlier non-cat machines?

I stand to be corrected...

Cheers for the advice though...
