This morning I dropped my F650GS Dakar off for its 6k service. On arrival I was sorted out with a courtesy bike, R1200RT (I think), which I thought was great considering I was expecting a Scarver! This had a puncture and was not available so I was given a K1200R
.
A trip to the office and then back home, just as I was going indoors, about 13:30 got a call that my bike was ready so I jumped back on the K1200R
and rode back upto SLM. Got there a bit quick and was told that they were still valeting it so I had a coffee and a chat with Tony, discussing new R1200GS's.
Tony had to deal with a customer coming for a bike so I wandered off looking round the clothing whilst keeping an eye on the yard for them washing my bike. Saw a collection of BM Guys looking at my bike, and then they were washing it with a bucket and sponge. mmm I thought thats a bit unusal, normally just gets a jet wash!
So after I hadf been there for about 30mins Mark(?), big guy with a beard from service, came in and said that their cleaner had reacted with the stickers on the beak and the tank panels of the bike.
thought I, then Mark(?) said don't worry we will get the stickers in and keep the bike until its sorted would you be happy to hang onto the loan bike. Well since test rides were booked for the K1200R for the weekend this was not available to me so instead I have got their old R1200GSA demonstrator until my bike is sorted out!
After riding the R1200GSA today I think that I will probably stick with a R1200GS which I had test ridden in the past. I cannot really justify the GSA even if it does look like a helicopter gunship
So thumbs up for SLM
. Oh and hang on to the Dakar for as long as you need!
