Noticed over the last couple of days the bike is taking longer to start

Normally its two revolutions and it fires , but its now between 4 and 6 revolutions

Battery is a motobatt put in about 20 months ago , normal sluggish turnover, then spins freely but now up to 6 revolutions before it catches

New plugs etc at the last service, TPS changed about 6 months ago

Exhaust damper is open and still cycling fuel consumption is normal 48.5mpg

On my single cam the starter was borked at 26k , The TC is currently on 22k

Only thing i can think of is the temperature is dropping to sub 10c at night now, other than that i'm stumped ?

I had a sluggish turnover on my 2010 GS. I read on here about cleaning out the old grease and replacing it with new so I gave that a try before buying a new starter motor. It worked much better than expected and saved me having to buy a new one. The old grease had almost turned into a plastic type paste. Easy job just need a piece of pipe or cardboard to guide the brushes back into place.

Mart, I’ve got a spare starter brush pack in the pile of garage spares I have for hexheads, if I ever get a free weekend I’ll bring it over along with all the other stuff I no longer need so you can help yourself.

Cheers Adam,

Once its spinning its fine, albeit it takes more revolutions to fire up

I may pop the starter out and have a look see/ lube

Yes we need to work out a suitable date to do the collection / delivery :)
