smoooooth !! accelerator module

no difference??

darn thing must be defective, I had a different bike after fitting, and so did my wife, and a friend with a F650GS. weird....... Could not ride the bike under 3k revs, now it happily drops to 1500, and pulls from there without protesting, and the engine feels as if it should have been this way all along, and wasn't. also it does not conk out anymore when I drop the clutch too rapidly, awkward when that happens in tight situations. Rotax built a good engine, and put in the riding quality, and BMW wasted that with lean mixture. pity then, that you have that experience, buz ! hans

Mine is better at low revs. The bike is still on July 2008 mapping though. I am using the extended version.

question...

I've just sold a GSA to go to a better m/c... the GS 800, my old 2007 had one of the early one fitted and are wondering if its the same as the 800 type... or different?
Cheers

I had one on my 2010 GSA and it worked well ,but sold that and got a less lardy gs800:thumb2 and have just come back in from seeing what the one I have fitted to the gs800 was like, It dose smooth it out some what and makes the throttle less jerky.
The only difference that I could see was that the temp sender lead was not as long as the one on the GSA

Just email him at :

he writes good english and is very helpful.

Out of interest the module off my F800GS is apparently compatible with a XChallenge. I just bought another one. I haven't ridden the XChallenge much since I fitted it, but it sure tamed down the throttle response ... it may be too much of a big pussy cat now, but I suspect it will make it not much harder to ride than a 250 offroad (apart from the weight of course)!

Hi I'm fr Singapore, just to check , does the Sol2 helps in better rev at low rpm ? My chain was rattling like hell when maneuvering at slow speed in the carpark n roundabout too. Once reach highways it fine.. And which version are you using, the compact or extended? Appreciate that u can provide me the details , maybe can meet up for a drink too..

In a word - yes. It helps a little to smooth out the jerkiness at low speed. However it must be said 'rattling like hell' doesn't sound too healthy - could there be something else wrong with the chain / sprockets? There is a little more chain slap on bikes with longer suspension travel simple because of the geometry requiring more slack however it shouldn't be too bad.

In my opinion, for the price the module it is worth trying however i'd still be looking at the final drive if you're concerned.

Best,

S

Smythson: thanks for the info, maybe I'm abit exaggerate about the chain rattling. It occur at low rpm abt 2k most of it when I have pillion. I have check both the sprocket and it fine.

My climate here is humid n hot mostly 27-32 degree Celsius, so should I go with the extended version?

On our bikes 2k rpm does not have much pull so it's not going to be too smooth, particularly with a pillion. Albeit an accelerator module goes some way to correcting this it may be worth dropping a tooth on the front sprocket next time you're time your changing. This is of course as long as you don't spend too much time on motorways which considering your location i'm guessing not...

As for the extended version (i've the normal version myself) i personally can't see the point. BMW have designed the location of their temperature sensor just fine - the module is to correct the fuelling ratio which BMW had to alter in order to comply with emissions regulations.

There's a looonnnngggg thread on the module here - http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=637186

I'd love anything that gives the bike a bit more oomph.
But am I really the only one here that loves how punchy the bike is? I love nothing more than snapping the throttle open for a speedy overtake =D

Fitted yesterday
Rode to work today
Notice no difference at all

Wasted £40 there then :blast

I'm with Buz on this one - ordered one on the strength of the comments on here - fitted in about 10 minutes - went out for a bimble of about 4 hours on the bike.

I tried really hard to notice something, anything - nothing :-(

I tried low revs, high revs, low speed, high speed - I have to be honest, I really, really, didn't notice a darn thing!

I spend a lot of time riding off road so one of the very first things I did when I first got the bike was take out almost all the slack in the accelerator cable that the dealers seem to love to have - I found this significantly reduced the "snatchy" low rev throttle issues that I initially experienced (which you really don't want when riding dirt). Perhaps I've just learned to compensate through clutch control / slipping the clutch etc

I won't bother removing the unit, but I wouldn't recommend it either ............

Just to share, I was abt to order the module online when my local dealer call me that my BMW Akrapovic is in store. So I went down to fix it straight and rode hm . I notice the performance of the bike immediately when I accelerate from 1st to 2nd gear . It was so much smoother n when power kick in at 4k Rpm was oomhp!!! Way faster as compare to the stock. I also notice the lower gearing is less jerky as before. But I have to agreed that my gas mileage suffer abit as I tends to rev alot more b'cos of the sweet tone of the Akra.
