I parked my car in the entrance to a field adjacant to the driveway to a gamekeepers cottage near Lundin Links. The ground seemed firm enough and I've parked there dozens of times before.
Walked the dog for about 45 mins then tried to drive away. Wheels spin

Tried her in second gear. No joy so I reversed a couple of feet further in to try and get some grip. Same again. The couple from the cottae tried to help with her driving and me and the guy pushing but she kept stalling the engine. Then they fetched two spades and we tried to dig the car out. Still no joy. The guy suggested me reversing further back with them pushing as the ground seemed firmer where he was suggesting we go. I relectantly agreed and it worked!...but I was then stuck 20 yards further into the field with the wheels spinning like feck and the car fishtailing, churning up the farmer's field.
I forgot to mention that this couple had no 4 x 4 vehicle to tow me out.
Christine then appeared with my mate Bill in his Lincoln Continental Tony Soprano mobile. No way, he'd risk putting his pride and joy near this field and his tow rope wasn't 24m long

. Bill had long strips of plastic sheeting which we put under the wheels of my motor. Still no joy. We ended up pushing the car further back into the field. Then we got lucky and I managed to get some grip and off I went, heading uphill and slewing all over the place, going in the general direction of the exit
And then I got stuck again.
However, with four pairs of hands shoving hard from the back, I quickly got out of the latest ruts and got back onto terra firma. During the last big push Frau Ronno got behind the rear offisde wheel. Remember the scene from Trainspotting when Spud is fighting with the lassie's mum over the shit covered sheets?

Oh, how she laughed....
From first being stuck to getting back onto the road was about an hour and 15 mins. I needed a dram that night....
