SNOW RUN THIS YEAR?

Just been told I won't be able to ride for at least a month after my knee surgery tomorrow - so I won't be on this year's run :(

Good luck with the recovery mate,we'll be thinking of you while we're freezing our nads off and you're in front of that lovely open fire munching on Turkey sandwiches, and mince pies, and pouring another single malt, and the Great Escape on the box-Sod it I'm going to Retro's instead :beerjug:

I know everyone is busy at the moment, but no posts to the thread for a while, so just a polite enquiry as to whether the run is still on.

So, in the real world, where is the most northerly part of Wales you hit ( the gps download is U/S to me ) ?

Just asking :-)

In the real world,if the group is not too big,and the weather conditions are not too severe the group might get as far north as Devil's Bridge/Aberystwyth,but that's only a theory

Any body from the Cardiff area want to meet at Cardiff Gate Services M4 @ 9 a.m. and ride up together?
Some of us are meeting there and heading to Aber about 9.15

As long as my cold doesn't get any worse, or proves resistant to treatment by alcohol I'll be there.

I'm hoping to join you, is the meeting place still Abergavenny bust station at 10:00 for 10:30? :thumb

Weather

Minus 4 here today, considering moving run to Sun 8 Jan as the weather forecast for the next week is much better.

Will check on weather tomorrow.
Milder from west on Fri according to Metcheck.

What do you all think??

cheers

Gerry

How about a "virtual" show of hands? I don't mind these cold, crisp days personally. :thumb

Good call Gerry. As you say, check the weather tomorrow. If there aint gonna be any ice then tis fine by me but if not may be worth postponing. And there will be more daylight hours next week :D

I'll be there...only icy roads would stop me...anyway it is called the SNOW RUN...if it's rescheduled for the 8th and there's poor weather then...it'll be postponed again and before we know it we'll be out in the spring and having to dodge suicidal lambs...so my virtual vote is go as planned.

What with all weather forcasters being afraid to do a Michael Fish it's my impression that they tend to stress the worst case scenario when rough weather is expected. Having said that if the timing is as predicted there's likely to be be snow around else they wouldn't make such a fuss. Personally I'll give the white stuff a miss if it's around when I surface in the morning, however if some of you venture forth I wish you all a safe and enjoyable ride, and all the best for the new year.
