Allihies again.. but off to Asia soon....
Going along the lines of my desire for a Kalahari coloured bike. Can anyone tell me about respraying the tank and mudgaurds. By that I mean is it possible to get a good job done and for about how much dosh / time should I be looking at. Its my only bike and I spend quite a lot of time riding it and can't afford to have it off the road for too long.

If your bike's got the original paintwork on it at the moment I would avoid getting any kind of aftermarket respray done on it personally as the quality just won't be as good as the factory, no matter what people tell you.

If you really want to go a different colour (and you can't find the colour bits that you want), I would suggest buying some old and battered ones second hand (in any colour) from someone and having those resprayed.

old and battered bits won't cost that much, and that way when the resprayed parts start to deteriorate, suffer a few knocks, or heaven forbid you should decide to sell the bike :) you get to revert back to your factory colour paintwork.

I have had several resprays done on bikes in the past and I am of the opinion that they just don't last and it is only worthwhile after you've already trashed the bike.

Just my twee euro cents worth!! :)
