I have put my own lid in GSA aluminium panniers with non pointy bolts and scratched it. My fault entirely.

The scratch on your lid looks like nothing but a trivial cosmetic scratch. Live with it until you change it. After all you don't sit and look at your lid do you.

The nights are drawing out, soon we won't need this crap to keep us entertained. Marginally better than reality TV but several of the people are just as dumb as those on the TV. Like some other I dread to think what the water cooled section holds in store.

Why don't you do what I do? I had this very same problem and believe it or not my wife came up with the answer.
To avoid scratching my helmet on a sharp bolt in my top box I now wear my helmet all the time to save this catastrophy from possibly occuring!
Ok, some guys take the pixx when I am in the cafe but I am safe in the knowledge that MY HELMET WILL NOT BE SCRATCHED!

By the way John what's the weather like in Malta?
