R100GS - I've googled it I swear. I want to install the shift lever assembly. The round ball thingy is on the trans. I need to slip the other round cup thingy over it. There is a wire inside. Do I just use force or is the a trick? tia

The wire is a clip. Find the round piece on the outside of the cup thing, at its 'neck' with the threaded rod. Rotate that off the ball, withdraw the wire from a small hole in the cup. Connect the shifter ball, then reinstall the clip thru the same hole inn the cup, & fasten the clip round the neck of the cup.

OK, I think I understand. Will make frozen trudge out to shop now. Thank you so much:thumb

edit: the neck clip was missing, I can safety wire it, no?

I will check parts fiche for clip and add to growing list. Mechanicals are now mostly sorted...now on to electrics God have mercy on me..

Just be greatful that the airhead wiring is relatively simple and especially doesn't have a canbus system.:D

It seems I was born in a very sweet spot in the evolution of mankind. I think I can ride my air cooled and carbed bikes to my deathbed, if you know what I mean:cool:

Most on this forum would agree with that, some of us are even happier they will probably never own a working mobile phone.
I had to buy a $2- sim card so I can quote a number when I order from some sites on the net/web , but I think I will last out-----------.
Probably too dumb to work out how to work one anyway , and too deaf to hear it, so I dont feel deprived.
