Senior moment today....Hugo the Patterdale is scheduled in for a CT scan for a lump under his chest. Wife books him in for18th Feb, take him and look after him for 2 days she says. No can do says I, still teaching that week and then straight off to a camping do...rescheduled for 25th..Today I realised that actually half term is next week. So surgery for mutt rescheduled, and camping made easier....How senior do you need to be to not even realise when you're on Holiday! Good news is I can make the pub as will be able to ride down any time on the Friday!, won't have to get frozen boerewors and will be able to set up my tent in daylight. Pate and Bangers and mash if it's not too late?

According to BBC Weather, rain is due on the Saturday.

Bring a coat/brolly.

Gentlemen - it would appear that, as a consequence of a lack of “Northerness” in the attendance for next weekend, Wappers has ordered some slightly warmer weather for us all to enjoy! Looks like it might be “just like the Caribbean” at a balmy 14 degrees.

Clearly those who originate from south of Watford will be relieved, and those who have some genetic northerness in them may well be seen wandering round in just s string vest and some badly fitting y-fronts

I’ve mentioned the event to PapaHayd from Southampton in case he fancied popping over for a visit to meet fellow tossers and chat shit for a while over a beer/brew, as a recent forum joiner the event might have escaped his notice.

I suggested he could benefit from meeting seasoned tourers as he is hoping to venture off on his first Euro bike trip later this year. Hopefully room for one more around the camp fire if he is able to pop over.

Is anyone bringing a fire pit? I can bring a bit of wood, but need to know if I have to get all the nails out.

See post 215..but I don't own a fire pit....
Edit 1..
After looking again at the campsite,,it says all logs must be purchased on site....
Edit 2.
Perhaps if I bring just one bag and keep it out of site and purchase one of theirs so as too look good for them..
Edit 3
Just spoke to a lady,on the ground or a firepit they don't mind...

I seem to recall something about fires on the ground have to be nail free (for obvious reasons).

Overcoming my innate lazyarsedness, I had a look at their website. This is all I could find about fires in their FAQ.

"You are welcome to have campfires and bbq's at Hurst View - we sells bags of logs at reception should you need them."

Just run a magnet through the ashes in the morning for the sake of roaming livestock/wildlife hooves and lawnmower blades, sod pulling the nails out.

I have a large strong magnet on a rope at work I can bring if you like, we use it whenever we drop spanners in the bilges.

I've got a fair amount with no nails, so I'll just bring that. The nail stuff can go in the wood burner at home as usual :)
