Software HELP!

Recently I've purchased a garmin SP111, this being my first GPS system and generally I'm very pleased with it. But it's loaded with the Europe V4 software which is a little out of date. This unit was purchased second hand and came with one CD, this being Mapsource City navigator, knowing i needed more than this I contacted Garmin and they kindly sent out the latest V8 disc.
Now to the problem, when I try to load the first CD on to my computer it gets as far as loading the regions then at about 18% all I get is an error message.I contacted Garmin again but this time they couldn't put the phone down quickly enough, but I did get out of them that I need a third CD! Can anyone confirm this, any information will be helpful, cheers

Do you realize that Cn v8 is a DVD and you need a previous version installed and activated on your PC .before paying for an unlock code for the CN V8 upgrade ?? cs 6 and 7 come on a 3 cd set..not sure about v4!

Hi Gremlin:

I suspect that the problem you have is somehow related to your computer, and not to the software (the CD) that Garmin sent you.

The fact that your computer can read the disc and begins to load it confirms that you have the appropriate hardware on your computer to handle the disc. There is a lot of stuff on that Garmin disc - could it be that your computer's hard disc might be full?

In any case - focus your troubleshooting efforts on your PC, not on the Garmin CD or the Garmin GPSR.

Twice I've been sent CDs (DVD?) from Garmin that have been troublesome loading. The first never worked, and was cured by Garmin sending a replacement; the second eventually worked after some 'cleaning & buffing.' It may be that my CD/DVD drive is at fault but, then again, it works perfectly well with everything else.

Sorry forgot to mention I tried to load the first CD on another computer and got the same error message.
Perhaps I should ask the question what do I need to load the garmin GPS software onto my computer, taking into account this is the first time I've used GPS.
