Are there any for the X Chal? I bought mine with 800 miles from a Honda dealer who took it in PX and they did the first service. Just got back from the Pyrenees with 2,000 miles but heavy off road use and I figure she's due a fettle. I don't mind taking her to BMW for a service if there's any software updates. If not I'll just drop her down to my local guy to do. Thing is I'm sure I'd read on here a few guys had some updates but when I called Williams I was told these bikes don't have updates :nenau

Software updates are not part of the normal service schedule.
However if you PM Jonny Boxer he will update you as his has been done.
Williams are talking out of their arse if they say no updates are available.

Best book it into Rainbow, there's a dealer who know what they're doing

Treat her to the 5* treatment after 2000 miles in the Pyrenees, it won't break the bank and you'll feel like you've got a new bike

You may even find your bike is due a couple of free items like a new battery, top chain roller, rear shock guard, part wiring loom and rear wheel bearings, all courtesy of BMW, then you'll be a happy bunny

Nice ride across the Peaks to Rotherham too

To be honest I've consistently had wnak service from the Williams bunch. I'll be giving Rainbow a call tomorrow! Cheers for the info :beerjug:

Booked in for next Thursday with Rainbow. Be interesting to see what difference the updates make :thumb

Make sure you ask for the software updates to be done specifically, as Skywalker says they're not standard service, speak to Steve when you hand over the keys at the service desk:thumb2

Mention my bike (JB) or Micky's XCo when you talk to him, so he knows in advance

It was Steve who booked me in Johnny, made a change to speak to some one who knew what they were talking about. I had a chat with him about the updates. I also met Lorna on the knees up and she's got a few farkles knocking about of the heros legends bike they built I'm having while I'm over there. Should be a good day out as it's a nice run over there and I get to smoke one of their bikes about for the day

Ay up Peak ... is it this Thursday (21st) you're at Rainbow?

Hope to see you there if so :thumb

Taking the 800 but for no other reason than tank range. I'll be with a pair of F650GS twins and three 1200GS-A's so they'll not want to be stopping every 100 miles or so for me

But then again if I'm on the 650 I can always catch them up quite easily :D

Had the software updates done today and it's made a big difference! The bike is much more responsive off the throttle and feels like it pulls a lot harder especially from two thirds opening. There was no charge for this as part of the service, and some free goodies coming my way! New battery, chain rollers and splash guard courtesy of Mr BMW. Well worth a trip over to Rotherham :friday

Good to hear that you got sorted :thumb

software update

Hi, hope you could please explain what kind of software update this is.
The glass palace in Munic wrote back to a German forum member, that there isn't a software update necessary or available.
Nor do the accountable beemer service department people have one on offer.
yours
Josey

Hallo Peak
Greetings from Germany. A lot of Germann G650X-drivers at the GX-Forum are waiting for your answer concerning this softwareupdate. As drimcong wrote here is some confusion about this. Could you tell us a little bit more. Is there anything new or is it not official. It seems that not even the German BMW-Dealer knows something about it.
Greetings from Bavaria too

Most of the dealers probably won't know of the updates until the bike is 'plugged in' then the computer will tell them ....

Bavaria ... blimey, I wish I'd known, I would have called for a coffee, came up through there last week. Had a couple of days at Pommersfelden further north :thumb

Sorry Nobu I totally forgot to do this and I'm not in work till friday to scan it in properly. I've taken a photo of the readout given to me by the dealer in the meantime. I hope this throws some light on it.
