Software Updates?

Anyone know of any software updates for the 1200 GS or GSA? Plenty of car manufacturers routinely update fuel mapping and ignition software etc and I wondered if I should be aware of any?

Failing that is there an upgrade/fix for the crappy 12GSA fuel indicator/distance to go calculator? It just seems ridiculous that I can't get more than 28 litres in the tank even when it tells me there's only 10 miles left to run. Must be fixable surely??

Ask your dealer?

BTW two weekends ago the miles to go said 9 and I got 33.73 litres in. What made the difference is that I'd just been along the Cat and Fiddle and that was worth another 40 miles. Guess the jet pump doesn't like working too much when the bikes upright.

I seem to get updated software every time the bike is serviced. Often it has fixed problems though.

My "distance to empty" is pleasingly accurate, i don't even bother looking at the fuel guage anymore:nenau

Remember the DTE is calculated using riding style as part of its calculations, mine can read 30 miles to MT for 30 miles (if i ride carefully) then start to adjust down to zero:nenau

My local dealer Clarks told me there were no software updates available currently and the fuel gauge was "just the way they are sir".

Are they 'avin a giraffe??

My fuel gauge was reset by the dealer (South London Motorcycles) because it was so inaccurate. Can't be sure of the detail but I seem to remember it involved draining the tank then adding four litres of fuel to hset the point at which the low fuel indicator kicked in. This was done in conjunction with a software update. This was on an 06 GS12. You would assule newer bikes were delivered with the software, but the reset might help :nenau

Just spoke to the nice chaps at Rainbow in Rotherham and they tell me there's been a software update since September last year and there's another one due at the end of May 2007. So if you have a service coming up then make sure you get it done. I'll be speaking to Clarks as to why mine wasn't...

Meanwhile the fuel gauge apparently still has no proper fix and BMW are scratching their heads...

Would this fuel gauge issue be the reason why yesterday it said I had 8 miles to go, but could only get 12 litres of fuel into the tank?
