after having the gs for 3 weeks I have started having a sore right bicep
at first I thought I had done it doing something else (no jokes please)

But I have just been on a big bike trip and after a 300 mile fast ride down country lanes, when we got back to the hotel I could not pick my pint up
and now after 3 days its still sore

the funny thing is when I am riding its ok

has anybody else had the same or am I just a weakling :rob

I have similar problems, i think it's the shape of the bars. After a bit of tinkering, by moving the bars upwards, then down form their standard position, i now find that the downward idea is best for me at the moment.

The Nippy norman bar risers are well thought of around here, up and back.

There are also a few who have used Renthals as a final solution.

I suggest trying to adjust your bars first, to see if you find any difference, and then maybe consider the other options.

I think some people just "fit" the bike better, hence the reason not everyone complains about the bars / seats.
We must be one of the "Odd" minority who have to adjust the bike to fit.

You might also have a stiff/heavy throttle . If you can, try the throttle grip of some other 1200s and compare to yours.

I had my throttle cables replaced under warranty for this problem - afterwards the bike was transformed and seemed much more responsive.

My approach to any bike with moto-x type bars is:

Get someone to help you

Slacken the bars and turn them backwards towards the tank as far as the cables will allow.

Sit on the bike and adopt a comfortable stance, hold your arms up and then drop them to where you feel comfortable.

Get your accomplice (spelling?) to lift the bars to where your arms are and grab hold.

Helper then tightens bars.

I was amazed how far the bars were pulled back from standard settings.

Worked a treat for me. Might help, who knows ;)

For longer trips a throttle rocker may help, though they can get in the way a bit when it comes to day to day riding. I bought one (M&P I think) for a fiver and it's great when on motorways etc.

I'd second this. Its likely you are gripping the throttle tight to prevent it slipping through your gloved hand. The throttle rocker avoids this - you control the throttle simply by resting your palm on the rocker.

All the above is good advice...particularly the ergonomic suggestions....

PM a guy here called Ricardo Khun...if anyone can tell you what's causong it by looking at your posture in pics, he'll be able to :thumb

(have a search on him and read the threads as well ;) )

Had one for a couple of years cost £1.99 from M & P but didn't know that was the name of them :D

Just checked they're a fiver now :(

thanks for your advice (I knew there would be a joke in there somewhere)

I`ll try all the above

I think I might be gripping to tight as I had a blister aswell

Cheers

To make sure you're not gripping the bar too tightly, 'flap' your elbows regularly. It helps to stop the creeping back in of tension. Muscle wise you can keep your biceps 'toned' without being 'tense'. It's when you consciously relax your grip without giving up control your over it.

But FFS don't do that if you doing any sort of speed or more you might take off leaving the bike behind :D I'm sorry but this vision off someone flappin' came into my head and I got a fit of the giggles ;)

Throttle Rocker!!!!

Beware thr Throttle Rocker.Riding in spain last year on some fast twisties, soon became tight twisties and my mate couldn't back off the gass.Had a few interesting corners with his wrist cranked forward before he managed to slow up.Rather him than me. You have been warned! :rob
