Sorry if this has already been asked but I couldn’t find it if it has!

Can the SOS button be retrofitted on a 2018 R1200 GSA ??

I often ride alone so thought it could come in useful if I had an off on a minor country road etc

Think it's for bikes manufactured after sept 2018 whenever the TFT came out. If you got BikeTrac it does a similar thing.

I don’t know the answer, but are you aware smart phones can provide this functionality. I’m not sure I’d trust detection, but you can set your phone up to send your location and any preloaded medical information to a specified number.

A mobile phone in a waist-belt (under your jacket) - might be more use?

At least if you are unable to reach your bike - you can send a message/phone to whoever you want?

If conscious.

The SOS system will contact you if the bike detects a fall and if the person on the other end of the phone/system doesn't get a response from you......they will send emergency service to you.

I have seen this in action recently.

Cheers! I’d forgotten about that feature of the BMW system

Thankfully I’ve only had one serious ‘off’.

It was on a main A road so plenty of people to help, I was knocked out cold for a couple of minutes and when I came around I was so disoriented there’s no way I could have used my phone plus my shoulder was busted so I couldn’t have got to it very easily either.

I appreciate most crashes are minor and you are able to get help yourself but these systems are for when you’re incapacitated in the crash as I was.

The whole point of this is to call for help, and send your location if you are unable too. Unconscious or broken in a ditch or crevasse in the south of France.......
