Hey all!

Ive noticed over the last day or so some vibrations( on the pegs) and noise coming from what seems the back wheel area(ive a '02 R1150).

Its more noticable at slow speeds (probably easier to hear it then tho) but the sound seems like its happening with every rotation of the wheel.

Did a quick check of the wheel and the spokes and they all look good. So im thinking its not a warped or buckled wheel.

Theres nothing rubing off the wheel or tyre either so im maybe thinking its something to do with the shaft drive.

Its my first shafty so I aint too familar with the working or maintainence procedures. I pretty much thought they looked after themselves!?

Anybody got any suggestions???

Cheers!

It could be the spindle bearings in the rear drive unit. Put the bike on the centrestand, then hold the wheel at 12 and 6 O'clock and push/pull to feel for wear or play, there should be no appreciable play felt.

Rotate the wheel with the bike in neutral and listen for grinding sounds from the rear drive unit. You will feel some backlash in the drivetrain as you rotate, this is normal.

Now hold the wheel at the 3 and 9 O'clock position and push/pull to feel for play in the bearings, there should be none.

Cheers Pukmeister!

It seemed serious so i dropped by my local BMW dealer and they've taken it in for a closer inspection.

Possibly a bearing or something they said.

Ive now got an RT1150 on loan.....i want my GS back.... :(
