You have all the correct words but not in the order they were originally written.
I know. It was quite funny that nobody noticed though, just read what they wanted to see.Doh, I obviously wrote the title too quickly, but the detailed question is in the post, which I think is pretty clear.

I'm wondering what other people do in terms of parking safely.
Are garages vital or is the place pretty safe

It may be pedantic to you but reading correctly the post was asking a question that those who cannot read weren’t answering. You in fact were answering a question you wanted to answer. It is a regular thing on here. People answering questions that were in fact never asked. This time it was, as has been admitted to, written with the words asking a different question than was intended.maybe people noticed but then read the text in the post without feeling the need to resort to pedantry about the subject line's incoherence
I agree, some helpful replies and encouraging. The answer to what seems to be your two questions are all in the replies:
Do you have similar concerns between Rotterdam and the Black Forest on your way to the ‘unknown’ of southern Germany?
Enjoy your holiday.

We as a group are looking at southern Germany next year as a trip and a poster stating how safe it is for parking was actually pretty reassuring.
Nah, he’ll follow your advice and have the butter in the fridgeIt might be different next year….. or even this, if the OP gets his bike nicked.

Motorcycle theft in Bavaria is generally lower compared to northern and eastern German states, but it remains a risk, particularly in urban areas like Munich. While Bavaria is known for high social trust, which can deter opportunistic crime, specialized, high-end motorcycles are often targeted by organized rings.
Key Aspects of Motorcycle Theft in Bavaria
Prevention Tips
- Regional Comparison: Bavaria has one of the lowest bicycle/motorcycle theft rates in Germany, with around 208 thefts per 100,000 inhabitants as of 2019, significantly lower than cities like Bremen (926) or Berlin (788).
- Hotspots and Trends: Despite lower overall rates, cities like Munich experience thefts, such as in the Riem district, where thieves have been known to target specific areas and even dismantle bikes for parts.
- Recovery Rates: Police investigations can be challenging. While specialized investigations sometimes lead to recoveries—such as in Munich-Riem where a,gps tracker helped uncover a stash of stolen bikes—many stolen vehicles are rarely recovered, with only about 10% of bike thefts resolved in some German reports.
- Targeted Theft: Organized gangs often target specific, high-value motorcycles or popular commuter bikes to be sold in Eastern Europe, often passing through the Autobahn network quickly.
- Prevention: The Bavarian police often advise using high-quality, hardened steel locks and locking the rear wheel to prevent quick, opportunistic, or "joyride" thefts.
- GPS Trackers: Using a GPS tracker can significantly increase the chances of locating a stolen bike, often leading to successful recovery by police.
- Secure Parking: Avoid leaving motorcycles outside overnight, especially in high-risk areas. Utilizing a secured garage or a well-lit area is strongly recommended.
- Disc Locks: Using a brake disc lock with an alarm is an effective deterrent against the theft of expensive models

The way I read it, which is exactly how it was written the post was stating how much safer motorcycle parking was in southern Germany. That is what the post was saying. Why you seem to think it said something else I’ve no idea.I still do not understand your beef. I read the whole post and felt I gave an answer which the OP acknowledged with a like. I felt I was communicating with the OP. You? Not so much.
So just to confirm……
My bike will still work
