Why though what is the point, is it worth it. Why fix something that is already working.

I stopped autoupdates a couple of months ago when it hung my computer....

Makes the security holes in XP a bit smaller - for a while.

Bug fixes and security......


If I've encountered a bug that annoys me then updating may well fix it.

And as I connect to the internet I like to know I have all the latest security fixes. I remember the SQL Slammer hack as that was a lesson in why you should apply security patches if ever there was one.... (In my world at least)

My wife's laptop doesn't connect to the internet and she doesn't have any problems using Office2000 so it doesn't get patched.

Although MS sometimes screw up the fixes, it is always worthwhile applying those they consider "critical". If you are happy that your current security holes will never be exploited, fair enough.
