spare V7 anyone???

Russ,

I honestly can't understand why you are having trouble with the disc.

Okay.I looked on the original as in
My Computer
Drive D,,, Right Click
Choose Explore.
Saw "Set up" under Medium (as in Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, Gigantic.)
Next to ISSCript9.
Also under Large is instmsia and instimiw and Navigator City Navigator Europe V7.

I can't remember which of these "buttons" is needed to click to install.

I have done another copy of the disc and original and copy are the same.

Try that suggestion to see what is happening.

Hope it works out.

P.S. I have looked on the other discs and at the back of the insert of V8 it says you must have a previous veriion before you install. Not 100& sure if that was the same as for V7.

Pat,
thank you....maybe you need to have a look at my avator....it may give a hint as to why we are not finding it straight forward to do this simple computer task!!!!

seriously, tho' folks, we are going to set him up with his v6 first, then try to upgrade to v7....

just shows the problems that can arise when buying off fleabay....and not knowing what to look for!

don't think there will be problem loading your discs once we have established v6 as a starting point, but hey, being allergic to computers makes things more exciting than I really like!

Russ,

Any luck yet.

She-who-posted-the-discs is asking me.:blagblah:blagblah

hi pat, well yes and no!
uninstalled everything and started again with the set up disk that was supplied with his purchase....and then able to install your 3 disks, yippee!!!
er, well, not quite yippee, as the unlock wizard then refused to work a meassage saying unlock software has failed to load properly:blast

so decided to uninstall and start again with set up disk and his v6....and see what happens!
also suggested he contact garmin to ensure that he is now the registered owner and verify the unlock codes he has are real/valid!

main time problem is that he is up to eyeballs with work and other things so is finding it difficult to find time to look at this.....and quantities of wine are required to support the effort!

thanks for the interest, if you have any ideas which may explain the difficulties with the install I will be very grateful as this is becoming a bit of a pain in ar*e! which is why I keep reminding him of all the beer he will be buying when we eventually get to do our european tour!:augie

Russ,

Well, I am not absolutely 100% sure about your problem.

My SP111 is the only GPS I have ever had and all unlock codes worked for me on mine.
Could be, as you said, the codes your mate has may not be correct.
GArmin may be able to help.

At least the discs I sent actually loaded up. I was fearing they might not.

Best of luck anyways.

Be Safe.

Russ,

Just another thought on this unlock code.

Is it possible you have 0 and o in the code. S0metimes those tw0 get confused with each other. Dontcha know??

hi thanks to pat and his v7 discs, plus a lot of red wine....me mate has finally got the installation to work!!!

this is a great relief to him, (and to me, otherwise I would have had to go and help him!)

now all he has to do is try and load all the routes I have been sending him:augie

hi pat yes.....do you know him then??? it certainly sounds like it, he has a certain reputation to maintain....and red wine plays a rather large part in that!!!!

anyway, even if it doesn't work, as long as he thinks it does, eh?
