CABLE TIE. !@#$%! - why can I edit the flippin post title!!! You can only edit the title in advanced mode and only before one hour elapses after posting - Moderator

Now reassembled the bike after the 5min job if steering bearing, new stanchtion, refurbished shock .

But I've discovered the bloody cable ties on the telelever are 'special'.

Fook I nerf to go to BMW for these? Or are they available elsewhere? See pic below.

"fir tree" cable ties. Cheap and easy from amazon or eBay.

Don't know about those specifically, so this could be irrelevant, but various of mine like that have the cable tie threaded through the body, so you may be able to slide out the old cable tie and slide in a new one of the right width

Yes indeed. Some do have loose ties and a fixed body. And even for the ones with the ties as an integral part of the whole, you can sometimes clip the used tie part off, pull it through and then stick a standard cable tie into the jaw part.....

Gents. Thank you! Really helpful. Looks like I can get onto it today and actually finish the job!

This is what I thought they were! But now I've come to refit I see that the whole thing is one piece...v annoying!

I clearly need new glasses!!

On trying to remove the old clip, the cable tie pulled out! It's almost a perfect fit in the 'holder' which is why it looked to be one piece. So all sorted in a flash with new ties

Now trying to find a moment for a test ride!

Those are just high-strength OEM-style cable ties. You can replace them with quality automotive or industrial UV-resistant zip ties or proper retaining clips from any motorcycle or auto parts supplier. Avoid cheap generic ties, as they won’t hold up well under heat and vibration.

Wow. It was already 6yrs ago since I did those string bearings and fork seals! Pleased to say all remains in perfect working order!

This little experience with those tie holders/mounts/fixing points sent me down a rabbit hole back then. Now up to speed on all the automotive fixings!
