speed camera detectors which is best

I think you've taken a bit of a giant leap, there.............

(sorry - need to revisit that........ You're a fukwit :rob)

I happily and knowingly break speed limits, outwith built-up areas .................

If I can gain an advantage in doing so without being caught - I'll consider using it.

Ooooooh................. what a desperado I am

Al :)

Al, i didnt imply that we shouldnt speed but we need to man up and take the consequences if we get caught. We are bikers after all......:D:thumb

For "fecking bleeting" read trying to put forth a reason arguement- shame I didn't get a reasoned reply!

If you actually read and digested what I wrote you will see that I said that for a law to be just it must be sensible and have the support of the majority. I don't know about you but for me and those I know personally, both rape and murder are, we think, neither sensible or favoured by the majority.

Actually by your so called logic that rabble in Westminster can pass any law they fancy and the rest of us must meekly comply. You might usefully spend a while looking into the history of British laws. We have a long history of not obeying laws that either have become outdated or are considered as unjust. Just one example, we have the freedom to roam the hills in England, to walk unhindered across moors and uplands. That freedom was won by people, ordinary people, disobeying the law of the land and in so doing bringing about a change in that law. By your thinking we would all still be tugging our forelocks and paying the church a tithe.

John

Reasoned argument....fair enough but surely its the fuckwits that make the law you should be addressing, not a load of law breaking :blast bikers now is it? We cant pick and choose which ones we will follow and which ones we wont, that would very quick descend into anarchy. So its not up to you to decide on it if you want it changed do something about it.The law is the law, and until its changed until then if we break it and get caught we will be spanked by the,,,,,,,err revenue collectors, oops i mean safety cameras so why moan about it ? :augie :thumb2

Again if you read what I wrote I am arguing against said "fuckwits" It is because the are such "fuckwits" that we should never simply accept what they do or say. Of course if you think it is OK to use your phone while driving, to prod your SatNav etc then yes I include you too

And just how is a law ever to be changed if we simply don't moan about it. Should we just tolerate all that is handed to us? People moaning about unjust laws is how change starts. Some of those people see that moaning will have limited effect and develop other strategies. If enough people agree then there is a chance pressure can put on the lunatics running this asylum. Only when these lunatics fear for their positions will they listen. If we all remain silent who knows what they will come up with.

Thats exactly whats happening John, but my point is action is better than just moaning is it not :nenau So why do people keep voting in those self serving barstewards ? i dont know the answer, but until peeps stand up and be counted nothing will change.:rob:rob:thumb

Those replies went a bit off subject. As a matter of interest I do obey most speed limits especially when the conditions warrant it or in built up areas but be honest who doesnt go over 50 on all the A and B roads and so many now have 50 limits and a scamera van tucked away somewhere. It must be like shelling peas.
I dont think I shall bother to ask again.

so which kind are not legal?

Anything that transmits a signal to prevent the speed camera working,
anything that has a receiver to detect a signal emitted by the camera.
Road angel has the GPS locations of all cameras in the UK in its memory including the temporary ones in road works and the mobile vans, as they have to apply for planning permission from the local authority for where they can locate the vans.

Anything that transmits a signal to prevent the speed camera working,
That would be a jammer and presumably illegal under the Wireless & telegraphy act or some such.
anything that has a receiver to detect a signal emitted by the camera..
AFAIK it is perfectly legal to detect the emissions from laser and radar emitting speed traps. Unless there has been a very recent change in the law.

OK i thought it was receivers as well.

They can sometimes, just ignore the bickering. It was actually a good question. I'm thinking of getting a detector for my next 2 wheel addition, which might get me closer to a ticket (GTR1400).

I wouldn't want to do that.

Even if it is illegal I think I might be willing to use one, I can see the benefits. Can the police detect a detector?

The GPS ones are a PITA, especially my Garmin, the TomTom was better.

They can if they are on the dashboard of the car and you overtake the police car. If you're in France (where they are illegal) this can cause a problem.
