Speed Cameras??

Was up in Callandar last weekend with a group of mates, lots of signs for speed cameras as usual on the A82/85/84 so kept our eyes peeled & saw nowt. One slower member of the group reconed he'd seen a camera on a tall post in a field, but forward facing anyway - was he trying to worry us (we were a bit quicker than him ) or are there actually such sneaky devices up there hiding oot the way? If so will need to watch the mail for a couple of weeks

There are no fixed cameras in our area (that is west from Callander, south west of Inverness as far as I know (G.C. ?), south of Fort William, north of Glasgow). There are however, plenty of signs and west of Callander heading towards Oban and you'll see probably four sets of camera 'lines'. They have been there for years but never had cameras at them. Instead, you occasionally see the 'white van' and favoured locations are north of Tyndrum by the Bridge of Orchy and I have seen it twice actually in Crianlarich.

Of course, being a local, I observe the limit at all times.

The 'Safety' Camera Partnership in Central Scotland do not appear to operate fixed cameras. They have two mobile van units which you see on the Callendar road etc. The last time I saw them was on the A872 Muthill to Crieff road. In addition to the fixed camera warning signs on this road they had also put small triangle warning signs on the verge 1/2 mile before the van. You would almost think they did not want to catch anyone !

Often also on the A9 just north of Dunblane (south carriageway side). They sit in layby and try to catch you as you come round a fast sweeping bend.

Don't forget the overbridges on the M80 at denny when they hide their wee signs in the grass.

Correct as far as I know Andy.
The lines always make me slow down a bit and have a good look around, that'll be them doing there job then.

My wife got a NIP a few months ago, the van was parked at the Kingshouse lay bye. (Glencoe)
