Hi guys still undecided about the gs but do have my eye on a black 1150 which has a sports 6th gear now is this bad or good ?
As far as I was aware the adv. had a lower first gear for off road probably wrong.

cheers Ian

I've got the "overdrive" 6th on mine, and whilst it's fine for motorways, I'd much prefer the "sports" 6th. I seldom use my 6th in the UK.

Thanks fror the speedy reply mate it must be an addition you pay for I guess for the dealer to mention it.
Any guys on here with a 29inch inside leg ride gsers :D

29". Dropped once when the road was elsewhere! My Altbergs appear to have given me a fraction more reach. Also fitted some 6mm insoles in my other boots. Don't sound much, but every little helps. Biggest grief is parking the bike on a steep camber and then struggling to get it up. Hmmmmmm, crap choice of words there!

Mine's got the sports 6th gear.It basically means that you can open it up from 50 mph in top to overtake stuff without having to change down. Most people with the overdrive top don't bother with it until 70 mph plus is reached. If you are going to do any two up riding,it makes for a much easier ride. You lose some top speed I guess, don't know how much, but at 80 mph you are 1000 rpm up on an overdrive model. It does get a bit buzzy at the ton as you are over 5000 rpm but overall it's MUCH better IMO. I test rode the overdrive version but bought the sport box and haven't regretted it once. :thumb

i rather like the E "overdrive box on mine & use it a lot (and under 70 too).

hate the monster first gear though. is that the same on the sports box?

I had the E top gear on my 1150 for years and thought it great on motorways and fast roads etc, although now I have an ADV with the sports top gear I now realise this is much better for me :thumb
