Just picked up a secondhand Migsel light bar with fitted spots lights, and fitted the bar and lights nicely to the front of the 1100.
My intention is to have these spot lights come on automatically with main beam, so no microswitch. though I may fit a seperate in light switch to switch them off)
Now my problem, each spot had two wires, one black with a round spade on the end, and either a different colour that had been cut. I have all ready replaced the single headlight with new twins and wired them directly into the original connector, that seems fine, though I did wonder about a realy for that also, and I am resisting what I would have done years ago and wire these other colourd (I presume the black is the earth) wires straight into the main beam wire in the headlight unit, as i really don't want to over load these wire / light switch. I'm sorry but the diagram I looked at really confused me, especially this idea about relays. so can anyone help (diagrams very much appreciated.)
I have attached a very basic diagram of what I have so far if that help. I can normally work to diagrams, and I am prety handy with wire and soldering iron, but I want to make sure i do this right. but for some reason the diagram doesn't make sense to me.
All help greatly appreciated.
oh dear, bad day.. :banghead:

mmm, thanks, but yes thats the diagram I am confused about (the second link the first picture is a doddle :-) )
If I may, let me just ask the questions...
1)do I need to connect directly to the battery or can I take it off another feed, and earth?
2) The wire taken off the main beam headlight (via the scotchlink) what does that do, does it drain anything through that link or does it act like a switch?

4) also regarding relays and my set up. would I bennifit from feeding the twin headlights in my current twin headlight conversion main beam from this aux wirring diagram, so instead it will be like running 4 spotlights from the same circuit?
5) as above, should I do a similar setup for the dipped lights?

cheers

Bikergary:

I had a similar arrangement in my 1100 (T'tech double mains) and the battery went kaput very soon after...Too much draw emptied the thing in no time. Se beware. Now I have the spot's wired to the high beam only (original BMW) and I use them for flashing only...

Well finally finished it. Other posts were right, I spent most of the time wondering how I was going to lay it out like where to put the relay.
In the end, took a feed off the white wire under the tank from the feed to the lights, and wired the relay and cable tied it to the other connectors under the tank, and it work :-)
I didn't want to take the feed from the lights and put the relay in the instrament panel, different lay out to the 1150, and didn't want to leave an opening in the seal to the headlight housing so water still can't get in.
Can't wait to see it in the dark.
I may put a switch in later but for now it comes on when ever the spot lights come on.
