Does anyone know of some kind of spray on rubber compound that 'hardens' after being sprayed ?

Thinking of something to spray the inside of my aluminium top box to line it so that it doesn't damage anything put inside it (like a spare helmet). Especially over the bolts

Anyone else tried such a thing ? Seems like it might be cheaper than a liner bag. BMW want £76 for one that fits properly !

what about bed liner used on pick up trucks, it's got a fibre glass bit's in it and a matt, it sticks to stuff like shit to a blanket. I think it's called speedliner?

Cheers Lo-IQ. Looks interesting. However, it looks like it's a specialist spray applied thing and i suspect expensive to install - especially for a quarter of a pint volume i need. Unless i can find someone who's having it done and get the top box done at the same time for the cost of a couple of drinks ......

Has anyone done something similar or different to line their top boxes ?

If you look at the times, you'll see i was busy writing as you were posting :blast

The fact that i hadn't mentioned your post is also a giveaway :blast

But thanks for posting all the same :thumb2

As it happens my work comp won't let me view your link. Is it porn' related ? ;-) I'll check it out tonight.

Have tried the closed cell foam. I cut up an old German sleeping mat and tried using sticky backed velcro. Looks pants and not amazingly effective. At least not how I've done it !

if you find a speed liner dude and he's doing a big project I'm sure they'd be cash freindly....if you know what I mean, it's how I got my pickup done....:augie for a few sheets of folding paper....:thumb2

Okay plan B, do you have any Blondes with short skirts there? (preferably female), get one of them to ask.... that always works :thumb

YOU CAN SEE WHAT WE ARE WRITING BEFORE WE PRESS SUBMIT ???!!!!!

Car body underseal.

Wurth do one that hardens properly, rather than staying a bit waxy .

Never tried it though on panniers.

I have lined a previous set of boxes with a 3.99 camping mat....one of those cheapo foam ones....it was bright green :blast

This is why eventually we buy a set of Vern's panniers which are hard annodised:)

At least Den understand me ! :D

all i was looking for was something that would have the texture and 'bumpability' (new word for the OED ) of copydex. Anyone ?

It needs to be flexible and soft and to adhere to the aluminium. Needs to be able to cover nuts and bolts.....

Perhaps i'll have to stick with the foam sleeping mat and sticky velcro i'm currently using. Would prefer something less Heath Robinson looking though.

It was worth asking here as if no-one here has a solution, then a solution like I am looking for can't exist as there's some pretty resourceful folk hereabouts.
